  1. Hi All, in need of some assistance, started getting a noise coming front my front left wheel. Hard to describe, it seems to happen once per turn and at low speeds sounds like the brakes are catching like a low squeak noise but as speed increases it gets higher pitched and sounds like a bird chirping. I had pads and discs changed, still the same noise, took it back to the garage they said it needed caliper retaining clips and some bushes £100 incl labour, left the garage noise still there. Took it back again, this time they said wheel bearing, £40 incl labour after I argued that id unnecessarily paid for retaining clips and bushes. Took it away, no noise, happy days. A few miles down the road and the noise was back, albeit not quite as loud as before. So before I take it back for a 4th time I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions, I'm wondering if its the brake hose, noise always seems to get worse the more I drive, could a dodgy hose be causing the caliper to stick as it doesn't let the fluid leave once I take my foot off the brake? Would this get worse the more I drive and then correct itself if left to sit for a while? The last time I took my car to the garage it was there 2 days and when I first got in no noise at all, I'm thinking being sat for 2 days may have allowed all the fluid to leave the brake which I why it was silent. If the caliper is sticking would it sound like it was only catching once per turn as I said or would it be more of a constant noise? Getting no pull at all, just a really annoying noise. Any help would be much appreciated, dont want to keep chucking money in for random parts as its already set me back £350 in total and still the same noise. Cheers guys
  2. Hi there guys just wondering if anyone had an experience with changing/replacing a fuel tank. Lowering help

Hi guys I'm really wanting to lower my lupo when I get enough money to, I was wondering if you could help me by showing me yours and saying how many mm you are down, so I can get an idea of how low I'll be looking to go. Ideally I'd have it on the ground but I need to drive it everywhere without too much worry. But pictures and amounts would be appreciated. Thanks - Ollie
  4. Hi guys, thought id start a thread to keep my Lupo updated on here even though it looks like the website had died a bit I will keep this updated with most modifications I will do to the car. Brought the car back in October 2015 without a license and haven't drove it just yet on my own as test is in October. Only just really got round to giving it a good clean and tidy up all round. Car was a bit of a mess and did smell like **** inside. First thing changed the headunit and fixed broken door cards. And gave the enterior a good clean and wet hoovered the seats and roof liner, this pretty much brought the inside back to new just small broken things like door check strap and winders which have now been replaced. Next was wheels and needed a change from trims as I lost 1 taking a speed bump a bit too quick for my Lupo. Found a set of Dotz alloys on eBay for £100 and had to go and see them. Lucky me they all had new tires on and not too bad condition. Fitted these and now rubbing when turning due to a broken wheel arch liner sticking out and hitting on full lock. After this I left the the car for a few months as slighty lost interest with driving. About a month ago I needed to update the car and do something with it so I brought pretty much everything I'm going to need for fixing and repairs. A proper jack and stands and all the tools I could possibly need and can't forget coilies and 25mm spacers. Spacers are currently fitted and while doing this I have scrubbed the arches clean from all the mud that was lodged around the arch and wire brushed the breaks. Did an oil change and filter replacement. Cars oil looked like it hadn't been changed all its life and was very dark and filled with bits and crud. Oil filter was also locked on which was a 30 min job turned 2 hours. Yesterday must have given the car the deepest clean of its life got pretty much every bit of dirt off the exterior and gave a good 2hr Polish bringing the paint back to a deep shiny black. Car is in serious need of a clay bar as tree sap has took over the roof and bumpers. Coilies will be next and then looking to black out the interior. tldr. Restoring the car.
  5. So I've had my Lupo 1.0 for a while now but it suddenly would not engage in reverse, the linkage is sitting in the reverse position but when I take my foot off the clutch the car does not move at all. The gearbox doesn't even crunch if I try to put it into reverse without the clutch. Could someone help as I need the car sorted!!!
  6. Hi guys, Brought some coilies for my Lupo and just concerned about the order of the top mount parts. The coilovers come with top mounts and ive heard everywhere not to use them, i need to use my stock top mounts. Ive tried finding a picture everywhere of the order and cant see anything. Cheers, Zap

    Mint Lupo

Hi Guys, New to the forum, thought id post a photo of my Lupo and say hello. Car was purchased from a scrap yard and in quite a bad condition which appeared to be mostly dirt and smell. Turns out the car is in a great condition and just needed a good clean and clay bar. Recently purchased a set of wheels for £100 on eBay also in good condition and new tires all round Few minor faults which have been fixed include lock barrel fixed, door panel clips, driver side check strap, new window winders, dashboard took out cleaned and refitted. Coming up is a full service and fitting coilovers. (BTW does anyone know the order of the coilover top mounts?)
  8. Hi, needing springs or coilovers , will buy lowering springs, coilovers or swap plus cash if you're selling the car and want to make it stock again i live in fife Scotland closest preferably
  9. Just recently got my new car, a red lupo 1.0, I have things in mind to do to it, but I wondered if there were any things current lupo owners might suggest, want it to look nice but still functional
  10. Looking for a vw lupo 1.0, what do you have?:)
  11. Hi All, I've been looking for another smaller VW and came across the Lupo! There are two for sale in my area, a 2000 1.4 16v S that has 89k miles with this done on the car: VW Lupo 3 doors, 4 seats in good bodywork and interior Model 75 HP (55Kw) 5 fiscal CV (very good engine 4 cylinders and 16 valves).. Technical control OK 4 new tires bills in 2015: Kit distribution and pump water complete clutch Thermostat 2016: complete exhaust system revision (oil and filters) made in all € 2,600 maintenance bills; for sale need bigger. or a 2001 TDI with 80k miles with this done: Sells Volkswagen Lupo TDI 75 hp. Car in good condition. Options: - Power steering - Air conditioning - Power windows . Revision made . CT ok . Price negotiable Please feel free to contact me for more information. My concern is the gearbox/pedalbox failures that I've been reading about! Are all Lupo's susceptible to potential gearbox/pedalbox failure? Both are around the same price = 2,200 euros....the 1.4 is more appalling in that a lot of work has been done on the car and both cars look great...in the pic's. I have yet to see them in person... Any suggestions or help especially with the gearbox/pedalbox issues??? Thanks Cya
  12. hi guys, currently my box is DXQ. can i fit one of the other boxes to my lupo SDI such as the DED, ETF or FFV? thank you!
  13. First of all hello to everyone, I am new to this and will probably annoy most of you as I am sure this has been covered before. I I am in the middle of an engine swap, I have a 1.4s (75hp) and am looking to swap for what I believe to be a (100hp) 1.4 sport engine, this is out of my friends car and was a second engine to him so don't know much about it... Went to fit it yesterday to get it all hooked up (on my origional ecu) didn't fire no spark, then went to switch his ecu to find out it is totally different, so would I be able to just switch out the engine loom of his car (100hp engine) if so how do I go about doing this? Where does the loom go to? Thanks in advance Kyle
  14. Hi guys having problems with my lupo after sourcing a gearbox the next problem is the fuel pump the car has a timing issue which points to the fuel pump could be the solenoid but not sure had some crazy prices for fuel pump one place said 500/600 trying to keep it cheap or otherwise will havta get rid of this money pit. Any one got Experiance of this problem it's causing the acceleration to be slow and have hardly any power.
  15. Morning all, bought myself a little yellow Lupo 1.7SDI a couple of weeks ago and so far I'm really liking it! I've always had a big thirsty car and a little fun car for a few hundred quid to use as a daily and I'm loving the current combination and find myself always driving the Lupo now. So easy to park, drive and dead cheap to run (£25 to fill up). It has a couple of little niggles which I'm trying to sort - a strange problem with the sunroof plus the fact I can't open the boot with the key or handle -__- ,so will post about these in the near future. I've had a skim through the forum and everything looks very helpful so thought I'd join and post. Anyway, I don't want to get a "this thread is useless without pics" reply so here we are...
  16. QUICK SALE NEEDED NEW CAR ON THE WAY 2500 ONO 2003 VW Lupo GTI 6 speed Mileage 116 k (will rise slightly) Mot 24/02/2017 Just been serviced Loads of receipts Have both keys Car has been regularly cleaned and polished Brand new brembo brakes and pads on the front, also had new alternator last year Just had brand new two falken tyres cost £120 and tracking Two brand new xenon bulbs which cost £70 In the past year the 3rd brake light has been replaced (common fault) Both tie rod and tie rod ends have been replaced in the past year which cost from vw £250 just in parts and have receipt Annoying rattle coming from the dashboard under 30 mph I think it might be a broken clip thats in there somewhere Paint work is good for the age but have stone chips on the front bumper and the bonnet All alloys are good but the front alloys have some curbing but all still straight Tiny chip on windscreen Rear boot lock only opens with key Ive been very picky by writing these ^ Any inspection welcome! No time wasters Priced to sell so no stupid offers £2500 ONO CASH ONLY ADVERTISED ELSEWHERE
  17. So i've been noticing swirl marks more and more everytime i clean my car, they are really starting to bug me and i want to try and geet rid of them? does anyone have any tips for this? thanks, Lewis!
  18. I've got a Seat Arosa mk1 and would like to know if it is possible to fit the mk2 or Lupo backlights in it. It looks like they would just bolt in each other, but maybe the wiring is different, who knows. Basically, if it's possible to go from this: To this: Thanks for your help
  19. Lupo GTi, 1.6 16v, 5 speed manual, Black. 111k miles. 4 owners from new. 2 keys, lots of service history. MOT until December 2016. (No advisories). No tax under new laws. Lots of work done since I have owned it, Clutch in August @ 99k (at VW specialist), Drop links done for MOT @ 104k, 4 new nankangs tyres @ 103k, Front swing arms, ball joints and bushes @95k, Full service including plugs, leads, air filter, fuel filter, oil and filter change @ 102k Lots of small bits including new window switches, door lock mechanism, check straps, new replacement GTI badges and more. (I have most of the receipts for the work I have had carried out). Cam Belt in 2013 @ 85k miles. This is a very nippy little car being a 1.6 and has been very reliable in the year I have owned it. It's not been lowered or modified as far as i can tell it's completely standard.Only small faults are with the body work - odd mark here and there - tiny amount of aluminium bubbling on the drivers gutter on the roof (barely noticeable hasn't got any worse in the time I've owned the car) -small mark on rear bumper - also there is a small stain on the rear carpet but is hidden by the mat, it's never bothered me so I have left itI am being very picky by saying these faults as I wouldn't want someone to be disappointed it's obviously not a new car but these small small issues can obviously be sorted or just as easily left alone! Don't let these few things put you off an (almost) mint car for the age!Viewing welcome.Price is £2800. Ovno. It probably sounds cliché but I will be sad to see this car go! I have just completed a 1000mile round trip over the past few days and it didn't miss a beat and returned roughly 39mpg.Questions welcome if I have forgotten anything.
  20. For sale £400 Kw V1 inox coilovers for Lupo Gti In good condition the two rear shocks are brand new only been on the car for about 1000 miles And the fronts have been serviced by kw and have receipt proof Will post for extra Message for offers
  21. So basically i got new leads and plugs fitted on my lupo, and drove it home from the garage. the engine got really hot, and my oil light came on, I had to drive around with the heaters on full to cool the engine until i got home. Discovered that the thermostat had gone, got that fixed and hoped that the oil light would go off too. Nope. It came back on a week or so after. Ordered a oil sensor and filter, and had it serviced today, and still the light comes on. It isn't constant, and in the 3 months of owning it, it's come on 4 times. Anyone know anything ??? What could it be, the mechanic at the garage said it could be the oil pump. But I don't want to get things fitted if it going to be wasted money and not actually fix the car this is my first car, so I'm in love with it and I'd be heartbroken if I had to scrap it!
  22. Does anybody have pdf of owners manual for Lupo? I bought Lupo 1.4 TDI for my daughter but there is no book with sizes of tires, bulbs, and other important things. Thank you
  23. I have this also adverstised on ebay and Pistonheads - price is negotiable and it's probably advertised for too much (currently £3750. Make me an offer!). Pics are here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Lupo-GTI-125bhp-6Spd-2002-UNMODIFIED-/282016208966? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/lupo/vw-lupo-gti-125bhp-6spd-2002-unmodified/5601508?v=b My beloved 2002 Lupo GTI -Completely standard and unmodified. I've owned this car for three years and loved every minute, but I really need something bigger so the time has come to move on. MOT is due to expire in June but I'm happy to renew it before sale to give you peace of mind. 115k miles, very complete service history. I've owned the car since 85k and have only had servicing done at the VW main dealer since then, other than one that I did myself (I'm a chartered engineer) as I couldn't get booked in to my usual garage at the right time. The paintwork is in decent condition for a 14 year old car with 115k miles. A few little bubbles in the usual places and quite a few stone chips on the bonnet. Not perfect but it's made to be driven - and what fun it is! I'd love to be able to say that it's been driven carefully by an old lady...but if you're reading this then you know that really wouldn't be true. If there is another Lupo for sale that claims to have been driven by a nun, take that with a pinch of salt! Every journey is great fun - it never misses a beat and feels as good as when it was new. I know this because I had one new a long time ago - missed it so much that I wanted it back ten years later and bought this one. Sound great, feels great, gets through front tyres pretty enthusiastically (as do they all), and I wouldn't have it any other way. Talking of tyres - Toyo Proxes all round, all with loads of depth left - they are all less than a year old. Cam belt and water pump were done at about 90k - the previous owner said it had been done at about 80k but I figured better safe than sorry. Both keys present. When I bought it there was only one key, and I got that one wet (long story) and had to replace it. Bought the second at the same time as I didn't want to be locked out again! That wasn't a cheap experience, and the second key has never been used. The interior is is good condition, no tears or other blemishes at all on the seats. The standard CD player and cassette player are fully working, as is the factory tilt/slide sunroof. I've added an aux input to the cd player so you can connect an mp3 player, but that is the only change to standard. You can't see it when not in use but it works well. Great condition Lupo GTI that I will miss very much - good home wanted! Open to test drives but must have proof of insurance cover of course! Make me an offer - give me a call on 07743 552 772 to discuss. Can deliver on a transporter if necessary.

  25. Right so i was looking for a new car and i was going to be a right weirdo and buy an mx5 or an ibiza or something but i decided on this..i went to see the car and saw this massive black stripe down the side of the car, with two small stripes either side, was going to just peel it off when i got it home but now I'm not so sure...was just wondering has anyone else had or seen this on another arosa? Doesn't look like someone else has put it on and if they have it's a decent job..(i think so)...is there anyone out there seen this before? Curiousity is killing me..Can't find anything online..anyone know if it's standard or aftermarket?
