  1. Thank you. James. I can't work out where this relay is from anything on there and at least I know its working as it should. Anyone got any ideas?
  2. Do this. Explain the situation and ask them to tell you how much an accurate declaration would have cost on top. Suggest to them you want to pay it retrospectively (and maybe sweeten the deal by agreeing to a much larger excess so they have to pay out less) and they might be willing to sort it out. And what company is it?
  3. You'll have plenty people after those wheels. Shame about the car. You gonna get another?
  4. Think it lives on the Worcester to Hereford road. Seen it a bit. Don't think they are on here though.
  5. I've got it installed with the VW Data DVD (version 3.3 I think). I can select the Lupo so that has worked, I presume. If I go to 'repair' I can find the operation I want (replace the aircon relay). The repair has a code of 87 19 19 0 I think. If I double click on it nothing happens. There are some tabs in the left hand pane that have diagrams of the general area but that is it. This is the same for all the other procedures. If I go to 'workshop manual' I get proper instructions for stuff in there. So for example I can pick Dash Insert Removal and get step by step instructions for removing the dash. However in the manual I can't find anything to do with the aircon relay. Any ideas?
  6. Cleaning and readjusting the throttle body made this problem far far less intrusive on mine, although it still does it occasionally before its fully warmed up. I find that the worst thing to do when it is kangarooing is put the more power down. Its normally at 3k+ revs so I just dip the clutch and change into a higher gear.
  7. I have a balance problem too. Had all four done and four new tyres and the behaviour has changed but never gone. I was starting to wonder if there might be an underlying problem other than wheel balance. What could it be though? 2 ideas have cropped up on here: hub wobble and bent driveshaft. How would you go about diagnosing?
  8. Yep. Its one bolt. Can be hard work getting old one out and new one in as its an interference fit. I had to smash the old one to get it out and shave a bit of plastic from the new one to get it to go in.
  9. Drag is a massive factor at those speeds and given the T5 isn't a particularly slippy shape (being a van!) it indicates serious power.
  10. Yep. Sounds like a problem me and a couple of others on here have had where the ABS sensor dies (as jonny said). Get VAGCOM on and find out which side it is and order and fit a new one.

    GTI Spoiler

When I looked into it a before I ordered it they didn't have any in the country and it was going to be upto 6 weeks. Best bit about buying it is that it comes in a box that fits exactly on the parcel shelf. Its the only parcel I've ever seen that will go on there!
  12. Given the moderators are being argumentative pedants, I'll follow their example and join in. There is no English representation in the Olympics. We compete as Great Britain.

I just collected a primed one of these from the dealers (without brake light). Was about £150 if that makes any difference to buyers or sellers.
  14. Tree or lamp post?! Big smash.
  15. Is it possible to damage the chassis i.e. the wishbone mounts?
  16. Assuming your surround sound speakers are just bare wire at the end that connects to the hifi then yes you can. You won't be able to use all 5 or 7 though - only the front two. The quality won't be affected. It'll be as good as the surround sound speakers are. All of this is assuming that the surround sound speakers are rated greater than 30W (which I'd imagine they will be).
  17. I know it must be hard to take but you are, in fact, worse than Wales so we couldn't give a **** what you think.
  18. Difficult to say without looking but I'd certainly run it down to a local welding place and see if they can weld the bracket back on (or weld a new piece onto it) if the actual exhaust is still sound.
  19. I might be wrong but I think you need one of these: http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/sp-69-4809-25842-draper-expert-1-2%22-square-drive-5-piece-xzn-bit-set.asp Someone will confirm, I'm sure.
  20. I had this problem too. Definitely worth a look before investigating a gearbox.
  21. True but I'd also like to say that I've dealt with him and he was sound. Jon
  22. Enjoyed that! Are the Yanks that bad or is because there is more of them so there are ultimately more horrors?
  23. That Chinook landed on the field by my mum's work in Huddersfield. Dropped a few people off then went straight back up apparently.
