  1. If you want to recognise their past efforts make them honourary Vice Presidents; a Mod is a real role. Voting Mods in or out is a great idea though, many motoring forums are little better than dictatorships
  2. have you a rear spoiler
  3. folding roof, like air con is a very desirable option
  4. the tdi is higher up the insurance scale for a young male driver than the 1 litre or the sdi
  5. Lowering the car may improve the handling if the roads where you live are flat and smooth but they won't improve the ride quality one jot and if you have shite roads like most of us have, and speed bumps you may come to regret it.
  6. Some of the discs I've had from GSF recently have warped, two sets from GSF on my wifes tdi needed replacement so this time I've fitted Brembo's from ECP and the problem has disappeared
  7. Honest script but it sounds like 3rd gear synchros are on the way out?
  8. try them before the reduction in ride height, they may be fine, 45 means a harder ride so does lowering the car so your looking at a double whammy, try it first
  9. you won't be able to fit a full size spare afterwards nor a towbar and it won't make your car go faster, I wouldn't bother
  10. could the vibration be the exhaust catching somewhere, taking it off is a bind but it would confirm or exclude it as a possible
  11. Good to hear that, the point I was making is that the Sport model is a better starting point for a gti upgrade than either the 1 litre or the 75bhp car
  12. Hi, if you have access to a Lupo Sport that will be fine, the Sport has disc brakes all round [bigger ones on the front compared to the 75bhp car] and a stiffer front suspension set up too. The brake upgrade is vital if you intend fitting the 125bhp engine
  13. buy an Arosa Sport from either Spain or Italy, it will be a better basis to convert to a 1.6 gti but you might find that the 100bhp it brings is enough for you
  14. me too, heavy lump hanging out over the front wheels guarantees understeer/ ugly handling
  15. when you could have this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-lupo-1-8T-20vt-Sleeper-Engine-Coversion-NO-RESERVE-/332159223464?hash=item4d563b86a8:g:zpgAAOSwhQhYxZ5X
  16. white smoke is usually steam so I'd guess head gasket is the problem, get a compression check asap
  17. I have this type of spoiler on my Wolfsburg Edition Lupo Auto, it's made of foam so it's light and more forgiving than some of the rigid spoilers out there...plus it's a factory modification
  18. interesting conversion, battery in boot, some nice styling and a 5 bolt wheel adaption but some detail to fix http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-lupo-1-8T-20vt-Sleeper-Engine-Coversion-NO-RESERVE-/332152638115?hash=item4d55d70aa3:g:zpgAAOSwhQhYxZ5X
  19. is it garaged or does it live outside, is it more prone to this when its wet
  20. my local independent charged me £100 to fit a new cam belt kit to my Arosa TDI, I supplied the kit which was circa £120 from ECP
  21. Undo the two bottom bolts, the screw that holds the wing from inside the car near the top door hinge and the screw at the top of the wing bonnet junction by the bottom corner of the front window and slide the wing back. The only problem bolts are the bottom two as they rust and can be difficult to remove but a grinder cures this and then you can use a pair of stainless nut and bolts instead
  22. thats one weird spoiler, is it intended for the Loop
  23. 256mm discs same as on the Lupo TDI, the Lupo and Arosa Sport 100bhp models and some Polo's. This disc and caliper date back to the mid 1980's and featured in the 1st update for the Golf GTI 16V circa 1987 so in use by VW for a very long time.
