they were definitely worthwhile for me, but not sure what your intentions are.....

i would say that the ecu tune, p&p, and cams made a huge difference.

and i daily drive this car with absolutely no downside in terms of drivability.

in the meantime, we installed an igntion stabilizer/enhancer.

the engine definitely revs smoother, but not sure if it really provides more torque (like advertised)

Sorry, can you tell me what the P&P is??

I am interested in your jabber sport(イリジウムプラグ??)

Im guessing port and polish of the head mate. I think the process involves smoothing out the ports of the head to try and eliminate any imperfections. It is also normal to try and match the ports of the head to the manifold so there is no interuption of flow. These areas of the head are then polished to aid flow and also I THINK it is to reduce carbon build up as it finds it harder to gather to the polished surface.

Tada, have you any adress where you can get this exhaust?? is it individual construction or serial production?

greets from germany

Matthias

Hey :)

The exhaust was a custom one-off build, so they will not reproduce it.

Alright guys, haven't done much lately, but it is time to take this car to the next level.

What I have in mind.

1) New Coilovers.

The H&R coilovers are certainly nice, but the spring rates are way too soft at the track.

I was thinking about upping the rates and re-valving the dampers, but it made more sense to get a new set.

So, I am getting some quality coilovers from Aragaosta (Holland manufacturer)

Will keep you posted on this.

2) Wider track

Would like to push out the front wheels by about 1cm, but my tires are rubbing against the fenders already.

And that is with -2.5 degrees of negative camber. May have to pull the fenders.

Would like some tips on this if anyone has experience.

3) Better brakes

The G60 brakes are certainly better than stock, but is not sufficient.

I am running carbon/metallic pads with DOT5 fluid, and have experienced very little fade, but would like a BBK

for increased initial bite. Any input would be appreciated.

4) Quaife LSD

Hopefully the group buy will deliver!! :)

I expect you are....but are you using braided hoses? this will increase pedal feel.

Yes, Goodridge hoses.

Wow car looks really nice

Good performance from it then i see haha :)

Btw what make is that upper strut brace in your first pictures? Looks different to the others ive seen

Thanks for your kind words!!

That strut brace is a domestic (Japanese) product. Don't think it's really doing much, to be honest.

Got the custom Aragosta coilovers installed today.

Spring rates are

Front: 10k

Rear: 5k

The difference is night/day from the H&R's.

With the rebound in the medium setting, the car feels like it's on rails!!

Next step will be the track width, followed by the Quaife LSD. (if the GB comes through)

Hey guys,

It's been a while since my last update. Here are some things I've done to the Lupo.

Wider Stance

P1010433.jpg.

P1010435.jpg

P1010434.jpg

I had the fenders pulled and molded.

The Lupo now sits about 40mm wider (20mm on each side) With the wider stance, the car now turns into corners alot quicker. Cornering speed increased as well from improved stability.

LSD

P1010410.jpg

Finally fitted the Quaife that I got from the Group Buy.

This part has totally tranformed the car's potential. It shaved off a full second from my track time in Tsukuba Circuit. It the single most important part on the Lupo, wouldn't trade it for anything else. Thanks again to everyone involved in the Group Buy!!

Exhaust cutout

DSC00244.jpg

How it operates:

Welded in a bypass valve to my exhaust. With the valve open, it frees up 3.6hp on a Dynapack dyno. (which reads really low, stock figures are around 102-104hp)

Also has a local ECU tuner make a custom tune.

Pretty happy with the exhaust (especially the sound LOL) but I'm going for a titanium exhaust this spring.

All that above was done last year, now I'm moving on to the next stage.....

I've stripped the interior to install a rollcage.

DSC00427.jpg

Things I removed:

Rear Seats and seatbelts

All panels except for door cards

All carpeting, sound deadening, undercoat (including ceiling)

Visors, interior lights, handles

Bottom half of dashboard

Spotwelded metal pieces (mostly rear seat related)

A/C condensor, compressor, blower fan, heater core etc.

Rear bumper reinforcement

Fender liners

High beam/DRL

HID headlight washers and caps

Left side of engine undercover (right side is intact to avoid belt slippage)

As it sits now, the car weighs in at approx. 870kg.

Things that are waiting to be installed for additional weight saving:

Lightweight battery -10kg

Aluminum front bumper reinforcement -2kg

5pc Polycarbonate windows -6kg??

Unnecessary wiring in the back -2kg??

The car is in the shop now for the rollcage install. I will post some pics on Monday.

Posted all the pics on my blog here:

Wanted to keep the weight low, so opted for a rather simple 12-point cage.

It weighs approximately 20kg.

The car is going into the bodyshop for a paintjob, will install more goods when it comes back.

Thanks for the kind words guys :D

That looks awesome. Don't forget, take all the window motors out when you install the polycarb windows. Will reduce the weight down even more :)

Thought about swapping the regulators out for a manual window w/ crank. Not sure what I'll do yet.

Nice cage, really well done, shame they didn't link it through to the top turrets on the front.

Do you mean the front strut towers? Yes I considered it but did not want to puncture the firewall.

Once I'm done with the bodywork, I'd like to work on the engine.

Definitely want to install ITB's but nore sure if I should

1. Keep the GTI head and rev to 7500rpm (to be safe on the rocker arms)

2. Swap a 1.4L head and rev to 8000rpm (should provide a few more ponies)

Anyone have any tips?
