  1. A little bit different I know but I've had a lupo gti, polo gti 6n2 and a 9n polo tdi 1.9. I would go for the diesel any day now. Ok its not a lupo but its bigger brother. Keep it in mind if you want something quick and economical. Mines running about 220bhp and still does 55mpg at 75mph. 160-180 bhp is achievable pretty cheaply, any higher involves more expensive turbo and intercooler. Not driven a 1.4tdi lupo, did try a 9n Polo and really hated how gutless it was off boost. Like pulling away or driving slowly round a round a bout, if you were slightly off boost it did absolutely nothing. I found myself having to change down from 2nd to 1st gear whilst still moving to get it back on boost to keep up with traffic. However the 1.9tdi is a completely different ball game. Shame it was never put in a lupo, would've been a true gti beater! When you've got going the 1.4 pulls well, but my gti was much more fun to drive and had more character. The ideal in my opinion? A GTI with a tuned 1.9tdi in... Reality if it has to be a lupo? Gti.
  2. I'll be there, in my Polo GTI I'd get there before 1pm!! It finishes at about 3.30 if I remember...
  3. I had GT03 LPO on my old 2003 Lupo GTI. Thought that was quite a find at 255! I love how we price our plates here. Looked at the plate DAN in New Zealand. Cost about £2500 I think! Imagine something similar here, another two 0's could be added to the end of that! I remeber seeing 80SS too somewhere!
  4. Make sure the GTI only bits are there and good. Headlights especially as they are very expensive. Also make sure bonnet, front wings and doors are aluminium as they are GTI only parts (should be non magnetic). Check electric windows work and starter motors are prone to grumbling. Make sure gearbox selects nicely especially if its a 5 speed as they are made of cheese. If the headlight bulbs are pink or faulty then it's a front bumper off job to replace the bulbs so be warned.
  5. Buy a proper mini with a well sorted 1380 and straight cut gears. Now that sound is addictive! Youtube classic mini and listen to the 7 port about 6 videos down. It's my video and my mate's car. No big shiny wheels and German plastic to be seen there! I did sit in a mk1 Bini (as us classic Mini enthusiasts like to call it) after I sold my lupo and can't exactly say I liked it. Didn't like the interiors cramped feel. Don't think the difference in windscreen heights between the lupo's panoramic pane to the Bini's letter box helped the feel.
  6. Just sold my Lupo GTI and bought one of these. Great little car, almost as fun as the Lupo but at a fraction of the price. And it has a boot! GLWS
  7. Yeah I understand that. I just wanted to know if the remap brings the turbo in any sooner than standard. I drove a fiesta zetec s tdci 1.6 and the turbo spooled up at around 1500rpm
  8. What's it like to drive now it's had a remap? I tried a 1.4tdi Polo yesterday and found it very awkward as it had no power atall below 2000rpm then ran out at about 4500rpm. Has the remap changed when the turbo actually comes in? Cheers Dan
  9. Sorry mate, it's either going with the car or I'll keep it all for my next car and rebuild/adjust the box to suit. Cheers Dan
  10. £5500 ovno as it is. Or px for a earlier Fabia VRS (04 plate ish) plus a bit of cash - looking to free a bit of money up.
  11. Putting my beloved Lupo GTI up for sale, due to a lot of motorway miles starting next year am now looking for something diesel and boring! Its 53 plate Lupo GTI 6 speed in black with it's fair share of extras added from factory and by myself. So here goes: - Full factory heated leather seats - Air conditioning (factory extra) - Eibach -30mm springs - renowned for being one of the best srpings available for the Lupo GTI - 15x8 Schmidt modernline wheels with nearly new tyres all round - Bespoke stanless steel cat-back exhaust system built by Longlife Exhausts. Not too loud, sounds much like a Janspeed system. - GT03 LPO number plate comes with the car - worth around £750+ on it's own. - Pressed metal legal plates with red & black pressed metal show plates. - 6000k Xenon headlight bulbs - Cambridge rear lights with indicators and reverse lights swapped round - so now the small circles are the indicators. - Polo 9N rear wiper with aero blade to match the factory front aero blade wipers. - LCR Front splitter - New GTI front badge moved to the same side as all other GTIs in the VW range - Bespoke boot build/false floor that slots into place so can be removed in a matter of seconds (will include all stereo at right price) For those of you who don't know, the standard spec of a Lupo GTI against a standard Lupo goes something like this: - 1.6 16v engine producing around 125bhp mated to a close ratio 6 speed gearbox - Aluminium doors, bonnet and front wings to lighten the car as much as possible - Xenon headlights with auto levelling - Electric 'one touch' windows both sides - Heated & electric mirrors etc etc etc the list goes on! It has covered 75k with full service history. All but the latest service are VW main dealer and the cambelt was changed by Mann Egerton VW at around 50k. I have loads of history with the car. It is in very nice condition inside and out. The only marks are some stonechips to the bonnet and bumper as expected for a car of this age and a small mark on the passenger side of the front bumper done by the previous owner. Doesn't show unless you look close (I didn't even notice it until after I purchased the car myself). All paintwork is believed to be original - the car is completely HPI clear. This car is very fun to drive and will put a smile on your face everytime you drive it, but can still be driven in 6th gear at 30mph and accelerate with ease if you want. As said I am now after a diesel for motorway miles so looking around at a Fiesta Zetec S tdci, Seat Ibiza TDI FR, Mitsubishi Colt Di-D or something similar. I am looking for £5750ovno for the car as it is with numberplate, wheels etc and I am located near Bristol. Any questions feel free to give me a call on 07980161704 Cheers Dan (Some pics have the old wheels on - now of 15x8 Schmidt MLs that do not scrub atall)
  12. I like the look of them too. Not keen on the front of the VW but like the back.
  13. I think it's a dodgy translation... I'm still trying to work out what it actually means...
  14. Dropped the polycarb windows off for this car today. Suggested to Barry to get some GTI doors and a GTI bonnet. GTI boots are steel, so would have to source a 3L boot which could be a right pain! Starting the Beng Motorsport course in September too
  15. Took 3 attempts to turn over? Sure the battery isn't on it's way out?
