mk2
I'd like a main dealer original OEM key, but they all quote different prices (starting at £110 to £265!). Does anyone know a main dealer that is more reasonable? Basic key with the transponder built in and working... I'd like two actually. Skezza
Older than 2002 have Immo2 immobilizer which is theoretically possible to do yourself. Anything after about 2001 is Immo3 and very difficult.
mattarosa
The dealers quoted me £75 for a new key on my service sheet, that's because the buttons don't always work on it. Edited November 18, 2014 by mattarosa

(so not just the key)
mattarosa
I can only assume that is matched to the car. why would the dealers, who in fairness to them cut me a damn good deal at the best of times and tell me if I can get anything cheaper anywhere, sell you a key without coding it to the car. Of course it is a seat so the poorer cousins lol and we are north of the Watford gap.
mattarosa
no offence intended, the price also hasn't gone up since last year when they told me it needing doing.
Skezza
The North of the Watford gap thing may have something to do with it.
mk2
Yeah, as soon as you go south the price jumps. And that is just to talk to you! Mad world.
Reedo
ive seen you can get the key for around £10-£30 for vw flip keys then the price to get them cut and linked to your car is huge
Skezza
You have to find out whether you're Immo2 or Immo3. You can do Immo2 yourself with some fairly inexpensive equipment.
