GeoScars
I need urgent help with my lupo e 1.0 today before I set off to work, I put my key in the ignition like normal went to start and it wouldn't it was just like ergh ergh ergh stop I was like **** so I waiting again and tried it didn't work, Then The Oil pressure light came on beeped and went off so I checked my oil and it was filled up to the mark i left it at before so I was like Whats wrong with, I then tried to start it again but this time i used the accelerator and vroom the lupo came to life and was running what sounding fine.. So I manged to get to work park up and then on my way to work I notice I have a loud like vibration when i trun right which I have no idea what it is as of yet, but when I went to start it after work it started up fine and my concern is could it be a starter motor or something? I need help ASAP as its what I want to be using for a year or more as a daily Thank you so much George.
danoid
Hmm not sure, I think the not starting and the knocking are two different things. When the vibration happens what sort of road conditions is it? bumpy, smooth? And it only does it when turning right and not in a straight line or anything? Could be CV joint knackered
GeoScars
I think the non starting is ht/start motor related Any road conditions like it hmms when I turn right and when I straighten up sometimes its there its been bugging me for ages like the blowing exausht I need to fix asap Thanks for the fast reply

Sophiemasden
My lupo has this problem we checked lots things on it an the motor started but it wasn't that it was to do with the temperature sensor telling my car it was to warm to start when it wasn't so the oil and water light kept flashing and then when indrive and turn right the car jerks vibrates and then cuts out but we still not found out what that problem is. GeoScars
Ignore the starting issue unless it happens againJack up the car an check the wheel bearings for playIve done this and so did the guys at ATS to have a look see if they could find anything they said all that's fine, But I do have play in both wheels a little bit but not much... So When I got told it was a gear box I was Shocked as Ive not really noticed gear boxes to be super hmming and loud ESPECIALLY when turning right its mind blowing O_O Edited January 4, 2014 by GeoScars
Defcon5
Ok, so you have already had this checked out. What did they suggest as a solution?
GeoScars
They said they cant find anything wrong in that sort of area, It sounds like a gear box but Take it to a specialist to see what they say about it which im doing on Monday but the worrying thing is the noise, Its so loud when I hit like 40+ and Only stops when i slow down and its annoying me
Silver!
Jack the front wheels up and start it up, put it in gear see if it makes the noise with no pressure on the drive wheels. Please do it safely though.

Bigplum
It only checks IQ if you try and taste the tyre as it goes round,When was the gearbox oil level checked? , lupos can leak from the selector shaft , the box runs dry and destroys fifth gear ,If its a rapid clonking sound on turning , it could be the CV joint failing. Bigplum
40mph in second gear ?? Start saving for a gearboxStill sounds like CV joint , but ragging the tits out of it will just kill the box , lupo gearboxes are rather weak Edited January 4, 2014 by Bigplum
GeoScars
It was around 20/30 then I dont think I it would of been 40 considering I've just realized how silly that sounds :L Edited January 4, 2014 by GeoScars
Bigplum
You did say 30/40 then changed up , even 30 in second is being cruel
GeoScars
I agree with you but Its still like easy to put into gear and changes fine its just the noise and vibration :/
Bigplum
So the wheels & tyres have been checked out, no lumps ,bulges or delamination of the tyre ? Wheel balance ok?, wheel ok not buckled or flat spotted ?So what's left , wheel bearings , they rumble when worn , get louder with speed , easy and cheap to fix , if you are handy that isCv joints , They clunk and ping and bang whilst turning sharp under load* Still easy to fix , just buy a complete drive shaft from a motor factors Diff bearings and output bearings , rumble & get louder with speed, gearbox rebuild time , bearing kits on eBay for about £100 * one way to check cv joints , go find a empty car park , drive car round on full lock ,try the left then the right whilst giving it a bit of throttle , if the cv joints are shot they will moan like buggery ,But in extreme circumstances when doing that the joint can pop out , leaving you stranded Edited January 4, 2014 by Bigplum
