gernster
More weekend fun and games:New rear wiper motor and central locking motor for the boot, both kn acked! Seriously, buying that yellow arosa saved me a fortune in spares! The did the drops links and the outer CV boot (and hammered my sills straight again with a block of wood)then the air and fuel filters to finish the FULL service this car has had!Hmmmmm, regularly serviced! Then a bit of tarting. The alloys thjat came on the yellow peril were in but better condition, but one of them had a big flat spot on it form the crash, so Ive refurbed the best on from the silver car to match the set. Paint isnt far off, but Im sure I can do them all in the summer:Then gave it a quick wash and.......................I THINK ITS READY FOR AN MOT!!!!!!Fingers crossed eh!! lupo1.0se
and I thought the Arosa I looked at was bad. Good work sir.
gernster
Wahey! We have an MOT!! Apart from a wobbly headlight bulb that wasn't clipped in properly (beam pattern) and the high level rear brake light not working (so I taped it up, if its not visible its not motable! Top tip kids!) She went through with no advisories. Happy days. Couple of niggles still, rear washer jet blocked or summat, brake fluid level/handbrake light on all the time and the nearside driveshaft vibrating under hard acceleration, will try another driveshaft and see if that cures it. Koop
Very very nice work Got any leccy windows switches going spare?
gernster
Only a light grey one for the passenger side mate. You can buy the black switches on their own from the stealers for 20 quid, so god knows why ppl pay so much for them second hand..... gernster
Oh, and fixed my warning light, caught the handbrake switch wire when I bolted the handbrake down, doh!

gernster
Cheers dude, been using it this week, runs lovely, few odd niggles, rear washers isnt jetting onto the screen. Interior light doesnt work (at all) problems getting a remote fob coded to the car and needs a new driveshaft fitting (think the inner cv has gone)
James827
Think i saw this TDI on eBay ages ago, either way, i think you've sucssesfully replaced everything you can in an Arosa/Lupo. care to share total build price? assuming this is it?
gernster
About 600 quid less than I think its worth, if you include the money I made on the yellow peril to offset total build cost. Went to see a lad from edition 38 last night and plugged it into vcds. Looks like the comfort module is knacked, so need to swap out. James827
not bad then! especially for a Super cheap Eco Machine
gernster
right, another update over the last fortnight, hmmm, what have I done? well, started running it for one thing, now done 700 trouble free miles, the engines got better and better, I'm thinking the ECU might have been learning the new engine, and its much more responsive now.So, wobbly driveshaft was a knackered inner CV, cheap driveshaft off ebay fixed it:Tried to get the central locking to code with the help of MattP on Edition38, first attempt was a fail, suspected convenience module fail, so swapped that out (another freebie from the yellow peril and the same code)went back to see Matt yesterday and after a bit of buggering about got one of his spare remotes working from his Bora:Just ordered a top, key and transponder from car key help, so I'll get that coded when it turns up/Fixed my interior light, traced the live wire to a break down by the passenger footwell:and today I've fitted my detachable towbar, £125 quid delivered from Poland: Why a towbar you ask? predominantly for my Bike rack, but tbh they do come in handy!! and a few fitting photos:had to put a couple of small cuts in the rear bumper:and fitted up with and without the towball (and a wash!!)So, still busy!!!!! gernster
Hi guys. Had 6 months and 6k miles trouble free motoring in the arosa, but decided I wanted a mk5 golf so that project is now finished and the arosa is for sale in the classifieds section. Will be sorry to see her go!
