R99
Moving away from red on red since to get a colour match they will have to be painted, which will mean the finish will be nowhere near as durable So after some serious trolling of google images, I have shortlisted it to these:BRONZEMATTE GREY / ANTHRACITE
Koop
Bronze will complement the red best imo.
R99
Picked the car up today from the bodyshop - the amount of room in the rear arches has been improved by a good 15mm or so, so that should do the trick when the coils get wound down. The plastic arches also have no recessed lip, they have been smoothed down inside. The bolt holes on the roti's are mega deep (because of the low ET) so I was thinking of going with a stud conversion, has anyone got any advice as to what are the best studs to use etc? R99
OK - so updates:Fitted 205/40 tyres to the rims since the 195/40's looked like elastic bands! I miss the stretch, but it was the right thing to do!However, that then made them poke on the fronts like this:Which means I have had to order these:I'll be dialing in around -3 deg of camber into the fronts to get them to tuck.I've had the arches rolled, but I think I may have to consider getting some metal cut away as they are rubbing slightly now and I'm not sure what they will be like once the car is lowered more (even with the camber I'm planning)??No other updates except I will be ordering a MINI Challenge front splitter and I still havent decided on wheel colour yet
R99
These will be coming soon....Need to be machined on the back pad to reduce the ET, as soon as that is done they will be epic

R99
Offered up to the car - **** pictures, but its dark outside!!The tyre fitted there is a 195/40 Toyo Proxes 4.... it seems to have the same profile (if not bigger, see 2nd photo) as the Toyo T1-R 205/40's I have fitted. Its also got minimal stretch for a 195 over 8j...Major dilema with tyres now, as looking at that Toyo tyre, its profile is fine. However, the 195/40 Falkens I had orginally on the Roti's were like bloody elastic bands. The Falkens also had WAY more stretch than that Toyo.It just shows how much tyres vary. I imagine a T1-R in a 195/40 would be like an elastic band too based on the 205'40's I have now.Falken 912's in a 195/45 or Toyo Proxes 4 in 195/40 may be the winners?? R99
So, I went and got the car aligned today. For anyone in the NorthEast, I would highly recommend AK Automotive near Consett. They race MX5's and have the latest hunter alignment gear which cost them £12k! All 4 corners were adjusted to fix camber, caster and toe for £100. They also lowered the car 20mm upfront and 10mm on the rear. I was really impressed with the condition of the AP's considering they have been run through the winter, they adjusted with ease. In the end, to get everything sitting within the arches - I ended up with the following camber: Front: -2.06 deg (limited by the actual strut housing, as any further adjustments would have prevented the allen key tightening on the camber plate) Rear: -3.30 deg Some pictures: The front before: The front after: New ride height on the rear: New ride height upfront:

R99
OK - decided on the wheel colour now. RAL 7040 'Window Grey' with a clear coat lacquer finish RAL on the test tubes I saw today (minus the lacquer finish): Now its just a case of finding a decent price, been quoted £320 - £310 and £275 for the work... seems very expensive to me! R99
OK, update on the wheels, got the car back today: I know there will be some, shall we say, mixed opinion on the colour choice, but I like it Plans in the immediate future are now: Fit aero skirts (tomorrow) Fix spring twang on the coils (Thursday)Lower a few more turns (Thursday)Get mirror caps painted to match wheels (dropping off Wednesday) I'm also going to remove the roof bars as I dont think they tie in with the car at present. Long term plans are: Interior mods (paint dash chilli red and cover lower dash in alcantara)Black 'Halo' headlightsChallenge Splitter
Lupo-Joe
Love the colour! Especially if you can get some more of it on the car.Joe

R99
Dropped off the car this afternoon for the aero skirts to go on and left my spare mirror caps there too. Will also be fitting a pair of these: However, the chrome will be painted to match the wheels & mirrors, should hopefully tie in the car some more

R99
OK, just got the car back from the final job of the week - fixing the coil bind!Glad to say its banished with the aid of 3 spacers in the camber platesAlso lowered the front by as further 3 turns, about 8mm. R99
So, I have bought seats: Recaro Trendlines. Plus point is that they only cost me £375 in literally as new condition, so much cheaper than the JCW options! Was thinking of getting the red bolsters retrimmed at some point, but I think I can make them work given the car being Chilli Red and my other plans for the interior... nic78
Loving what you've done with this! The side skirts look so much better, should have come out the factory like that. Good choice on the seats too. Is there a build thread somewhere for the black cooper s?
