Hawkesybaby
So I bought my first Lupo GTi yesterday... on the drive back everything seemed fine and dandy as for the first 30/40 miles of the journey I didnt exceed 50mph....I hit the motorway and from 60ish to about 80 there is an almighty wobble in the car and when i push throttle down and what seems like a very high pitched buzz and vibration.... now what im thinking (hoping) is wheel bearing??? Does this sound right? Also when i am at about 2000rpm and put my foot down the car stutters and splurts a bit before it goes anywhere... what could this be? It has just been serviced (apparently) and has (apparently) had Cam belt changed last week as per request for sale...? I bought the car from Dubbersport VW's outiside of Huddersfiled has anybody had dealings with them? Also the radio dont work but thats by the by....to say im annoyed is an understatement!Thoughts? Kent
They are high revving cars, so the sluggishness might be from being in a high gear at 2k RPM, vibration may be from a buckled wheel or tracking or bearing as you said? Cannonball
Any warranty ? Take it back !

Kent
They should sort the vibration issue, any pics of the car??
outdoor stevie
A wheel bearing is normally a low pitched drumming noise when the wheel is loaded up ie. when cornering, go to a big car park and drive in circles to see if one way is more noisey than the other or jack the car up and grab the wheel and see if it wobbles.I presume you took it for a test drive and got up to speed in it was the noise present then?If they have serviced it, have they stamped the book, do you have the book, is the cambelt change also in the book, when you bought it what kind of warranty did you get with it, did you ask at the time,Vibration could be as simple as a wheel out of balance, normally on the front, have the front wheels got balance weights on them if not then chances are they have fallen off as it would be unlikly to have a wheel with no balance weights on so pop off and get em balanced locally, lots of questions for you to sort out wish you well, dubbersports from what I have heard are normally good to deal with but you never knowcheers stevie

Hawkesybaby
I have had the front wheels balanced and everything has been checked over wheel bearings, all suspension and chassis stuff etc and its still doing it....The problem is when it is under load as in when accelerating there is a judder all the way through the car....had engine mounts checked also and it doesnt seem to be them....HELP!!!!! Rich
Any strange noises from the box ?I bought a car off them once, had to spend a fair amount tidying up a lot of bits but no major issues. My one issue was with dubbersports themselves. Shook on a price and then a phone call later the price had gone up. That's not gentlemanly business.Shouldn't negotiate if you don't have the ability to do so. Bad craic. treblet
Coil pack, plugs and leads, explains the stuttering under load and the juddering. I've had similar symptoms in the GTI before too.
LoopEd
I'm with treblet, changed my ht leads at the weekend and there's less stuttering. Take them off the coil pack and see if there's any corrosion, a few of mine were white inside.
treblet
Ours used to stutter and judder a lot under load and often had the odd cough, every now and again it would just cut out completely and have absolutely no power at random too.It eventually got so bad that on the M27 it decided to stutter so much I had to pull over onto the hard shoulder going up a big hill leaving Portsmouth as it couldn't make it much further!! Never did it again after new leads and a new coil pack.
Hawkesybaby
By a judder I mean like a wobble.... Get to about 60 and your foot is down its really bad.... Get to 80 and it's a high pitched vibration only when on throttle though???
treblet
That isn't leads and coil pack then! Does explain the stuttering though.I'd be having a look for any loose parts by what you're saying there.
Rich
It does sound like a wheel bearing but it could be a CV ?
Hawkesybaby
Had a very trustworthy vdub specialist in my town take 2 days to look at it.... checked bearings and cv's driveshafts engine mounts all track rods and suspension etc....It had had a new clutch..... Did think it could have been the dual mass but those gearboxes don't have it....Anything else?I live 100 miles away from them and don't want to have to take it back to them so they can look at it....
Rich
It's not dual mass.If it increases with speed and only happens at a certain speed then it will be drivetrain related
Hawkesybaby
It only does it under acceleration....?
Rich
Hmmm, take the engine cover off and push the engine.See if it rocks at all. That will discount the dogbone mount.
Hawkesybaby
Already checked that matey.... All engine mounts seemed fine....Even had handbrake on and found bite to see of engine moved too much etc etc all seemed okay....Argh!!!! Rich
So it's making a buzz, have you had it on vagcom? It could be the throttle body ?I'm really grasping now, you should definately make a video.
Hawkesybaby
Had it on vagcom only said intermittent lambda problem ain't had it plugged back in yet to see if anything has came back....You wouldn't get much from a video you need to feel it and you can "kinda" hear it.... outdoor stevie
Just having a wee thought that it could be the exhaust moving a bit under load, or you might have already looked, it only has too move slightly to catch on the underside check to see if there are any bash'es or dings on the underside which in turn may have moved it to touch at certain rev's if you have checked this then smashing,,,track the bugger downcheers stevie
treblet
Exhaust would explain the buzz but not the wobble.I'm really stumped on this one without driving the car or experiencing the problem.
