shaunsprules
As title need ns and os pads and discs and a new rear drum, i know it will cost a bomb from Vw but is there a cheaper upgrade ??For a lupo 1.0 se 2000
Rich
All depends on what you're after. What's up with the drum ? You can pick one of these up second hand pretty easily.Brake wise, if you want to upgrade you'll need to change the hubs, other than that there's nothing to do but pads and discs. shaunsprules
Apparently it's leaking Fluid ...... LolYe I know was wondering if I would be cheaper to do a upgrade rather then spending £££ on same brakes
Rich
If you're looking to upgrade, it's new hubs time. I'll send you a pm.
James827
Apparently it's leaking Fluid ...... LolYe I know was wondering if I would be cheaper to do a upgrade rather then spending £££ on same brakesDo you mean the WHOLE drum unit or just something to do with the drum? just need a new Seal or a new Piston for the rear brake (gonna get slapped by my tutor for that, but cant put finger on the word i mean) because its leaking brake fluid. maybe new shoes as well would be a good idea, don't know how well they go with brake fluid. if you want to upgrade that id suggest getting a Sport or GTI rear beam with disks on! its something im looking into for the future, wont be cheap mind but i imagine it would improve breaking massively. shaunsprules
I have no idea how it's leaking... As its a sealed unit could be the shoes, or seals but tbo just gunna get a whole new system and chuck it into a garage as I havnt got the time to do the work
Rich
If it's leaking at the back it can only be the cylinder.Just buy some new pads and discs for the front, cylinders and shoes for the back and change the fluid throughout.Worry free motoring for a few years. shaunsprules
That's prob what I will do
James827
Cylinders! that's the word i was looking for. one of the dust boots must be Perished/Broken/whatever. but yeah like rich said you'll need to do a Full change of fluid if its getting into contact with air and moisture. ozzyboy
drums dont leak.they are solid metal.look internally.it will be cheaper
Silver!
I used Mintex OE replacement discs on the GTI. Seem pretty good and my VW Specialist was happy with them. Can't find them for the 1.0 on eBay, but these Brembo look OK for the price...As already said, more likely to be the wheel cylinder leaking as the drum is solid, but if you need drums: Brembo again... I've seen Drums with Cooling fins on them. Obviously this it to improve breaking but does any one know if there actually worth it? is there any considerable improvment
lupoluke
I`d say no, the drums dont do as much braking as the front and the standard items will be more than adequate on a 1.0 imo.
shaunsprules
I'd say cooling fins only would work for discs to help with overheating tbo....
