craigg!!
so my poor arosa is in the need of some tlc. its losing coolant and smoking from the exhaust and the smell of coolant is strong from the exhaust so suggests the head gasket. the clutch is also very heavy and difficult to engage gears sometimes so guessing at a clutch and cable?i priced genuine seat parts up today and everything seemed fairly decent priced apart from the damn head bolts! i was quoted £69.80. apart from the timing belt kit they are the most expensive part. is it just me or is that overpriced for a set of bolts? craigg!!
Yeh was a main dealer. B&H motors in whitehaven. would factors parts be so bad? im just a bit iffy when it comes to factors as when i had my zetec-s i put an alternator on and lasted no more than 5mins until it was overcharging so ended up with a ford one that was only £3 more expensive in the end. Bickerton
£20.70 online from eurocarparts and that drops to £16.56 delivered if you pop "box20" in the discount voucher boxAnd about £40 for timing belt kit Edited January 5, 2011 by Bickerton
craigg!!
I got prices from tms today. 12.20 for head bolts + vat. It came to £277 for a head gasket kit, timing belt kit, head bolts, water pump, clutch cable and cluchh. That seems more reasonable?
Bickerton
Looking about £100 for cable and clutch most places..Definate it's the clutch/cable and not the pedal box ja? Edited January 5, 2011 by Bickerton
craigg!!
I tink so. If I look at the pedal box will it be obvious if its that or not?
Bickerton
There's a massive thread on here, top of this section i believe.Basically, if you crunch into gears, especially into reverse and your clutch pedal isn't level with your brake pedal it stands a good chance it's broke
