You can't use reground cams in this engine due to the rocker design, and you can't fit carbs either as they won't pass emission regs.

Tuning this type of engine is very expensive.

A chap i know has got a polo gti running bike carbs and reground cams (using a 1.4 head)

ive spent about £500 to get 10BHP which seems alot, but thats assuming i hadnt lost any BHP from standard.

Although the £500 will be well spent when combined with future mods :)

Why would you assume you had lost power from standard?

You often find they gain power as things loosen up.

N/A tuning isnt cost effective at all. £500 would get you 60-70bhp on most turbo'd cars.

Dont even bother driving fast no more lol, aint raced anything since ive bought it, had plenty of bites but i cant be bothered.

I enjoyed it more in the Arosa as it gave people in far bigger engined cars a big shock. Its doing 35-38 mpg so i am driving it nicley ;)

they do shock people, especially when you tell theres only a 1.4 under the bonnet lol.

ben how the bloody hell do you insure a type R? your only my age IIRC? 19?

nice choice though, stunning cars, get them up past 6 grand for big smiles!

Why would this mean you cant run reground cams? I had a reground cam in an AX GT which used roller rockers, in the same way the GTI does, just without the VVT.

Because the geometry will be incorrect and I guess the hydraulic tappets wont opperate correctly. Is the AX GT even hydraulic tappet?

How much does it cost to insure a TypeR? ..anybody know?
