life of VW's.

when I turned 17 I didn't want to drive, I was too busy enjoying things with my gf of the time.

when I was near 18 it was all over and I had nothing else to do, not to mention my parents had bought me a car and were forcing me around an industrial estate. finally I left the industrial estate into a set of traffic lights. six times it changed till my dad got out the car and took over.

I passed first time with three minors, one for speeding, one for my hands and one for not getting in lane in time.

I basically let it go to my head and drove like a prick. Boxing day on my way to the pub I put said micra on it's roof.

I drove until my insurance ran out and then left it for the three years.

Then I got a clio, it was a french piece of crap, the timing belt went on the washington services. Annoying? Valve to piston contact? You know it.

Meanwhile I'd acquired off little dave at work a rather tasty on it's last legs mk2 GTI with a few months tax and test.

The bug got me.

Then I needed a realistic daily driver.

After the second engine decided to go on me it was time to break it.

Then I got this green love it or hate it machine.

After getting another two points on my license and starting uni again and not being able to afford to take it where it needs/deserves to go I decided to downsize. A polo it was.

As we know, after the polo, came the lupo.

then . . . . . . .

mk1golfgti1dec3.jpg

now

for

rich's

side

crap.

I bought a rocco off the bay for £46, one month tax and test, full tank. put a polo dash in it, too much work to put through an mot and scrapped it for more than I paid, didn't ever put petrol in it either. PIC_0007.jpg

bought a vento to break, it was cheap and ended up flogging it to a mate considering it had a years mot on it.

STA60004.jpg

STA60001.jpg

playing on the bay and putting an £80 bid on a vento isn't clever.

STA60011.jpg

ff00384f.jpg

had a mini a while ago and was offered a passat as a swap for it. I did this, flogged the plate L154 FHG off it for £300 and then sold the car plateless to some estonians for £400. not a bad deal.

PIC_0015.jpg

PIC_0013.jpg

got a free diesel till liam smashed it up.

I also had non pictured a polo mk3 coupe 1 litre thing. It was actually fun and that's why I got the polo GT.

anyone else want to do one ?

see if chris260 adds his ones from that day.

there was a massive turnout.

That is my one!

Have you bought the mk1 then? I had another look at the advert on E38 before and the bloke said he'd changed his mind about selling it? That was posted christmas eve.

Here's my history.

First car was a mk1 driver which i spent a fortune on and got it featured about a year after i past my test. Looked like this, last time it looked good:

Driver-Cups-Side1.jpg

But then had it on some shitty wheels when i put the cups on the lupo.

driver_garage_front003.jpg

By that time it had the 1.8 on webers in it. Still got it but it's just a rolling shell now and it's about to get some new life.

After the driver i bought a mk1 clipper cabriolet. This was my daily for when i was at uni and then about a year after. Looked like this when i got it.

IMG_1174_copy.jpg

Then like this when it was my daily.

cab_012.jpg

Now it's in retirement, pic from the shifty car parts in the summer!

IMG_8129_copy_small.jpg

Then the lupo took over as the daily. This is the day i picked it up from the dealers with 11 miles on it!

mynewlupo1.jpg

And this was the latest aquisition from Rich's mate Sharpy, mk2 16v. It's now gone to vw heaven.

16 buy numerous fords until 18 and settle with a mk1 escort mex, that gets stolen so i end up with a silver 1300 mk 1 driver in 1990, followed by a black mk1 gti, followed by many mk1 cabrio's, then a mk2 gti that lasted 2 day's due to it's pish poor performance, wallowy lardy ass and a matrix burst, i could'nt find a mk1 i liked and ventured into turbo ownership in italian guise, then french before finaly buying another mk1 cabrio then a mk2 g60,then another cabrio that i still have folowed by a mk1 driver mk1 gti then the yellow lupo that was a daily that went out the window when i found out how good it was, followed by another few polo's then the other loop now the mk2 :coffee:

I wanted a classic Mini but not being able to find one for a good price I settled on a 1.0L Polo Fox Coupe...

kamcarcopy.jpg

Bit tatty, but a great car! Sold that to upgrade to a Polo GT. Pretty standard really, didn't keep it much more than a month though.

GT-20-10-04.jpg

GT-20-10-041.jpg

The reason I sold it was because a awesome mk1 Derby came up for sale with only 15,000 miles from new. I had to own it. At the time not many mk1 Derbys were about so was a bit quirky.

Only ended up looking that way because I met Mitch. I didn't touch anything back in those days, was to afraid of breaking it! So Mitch did some good work for a good price and it was lowered and had a nice new petrol tank.

I only know him cause I spotted his Polo one day and left a note advertising Club Polo, lol.

Ended up tucking that away for winter and need another car. All my mates thought I was daft. Was only 17 at the time, lol.

Ended up getting a Polo Genesis Squareback for pennys. First really cheap car I had ever had so really went to town with making it look like a rolling wreck  Car was awesome though. Just took abuse and never complained!!

Edition382005222.jpg

DSCN7841.jpg

Sold that cause I bought an Indian Red Polo GT and a G40 lump. **** car. NEXT!

DSC00018.jpg

redshitbox.jpg

Ended up getting a mk2 Golf Driver for £150 of ebay, not far from me either. Went to pick it up, looked like a good car. Just needed a good clean. So I gave it one..

DSC00060.jpg

Came up really really nicely. Was a great car, but just feel right. I wanted another Polo!

I got a Polo Fox 1.0L (again!) for £50 with a failed head gasket. I passed it up at first as I had never done a head gasket before so didn't know what to do. But Mitch offered to come do it as it was a good car other than that. I had sold him an interior for it for £70 3 weeks before hand! So quids in already, lol. Gasket cost about £30 to do so car only stood me at £80. With that in mind I clashed a few bits I had knocking around together and the hoopty square was born...!

DSC00568.jpg

bloomin' love that car! Its undergoing a change so needed a new car. That ginger bearded ******* rich had a nice Jetta for sale. So I bought it

DSCN8131.jpg

DSCN8133.jpg

Ended up selling tht for the Lupo which is the latest car I've owned. Still got the ****** to1

Rate then! Well the first car i owned was a black corsa sport, followed by a 106 quicky. (This lasted about a

month before i had to get rid) Heres a couple of pics of them just to start haha.

quicksilver002.jpg

Corsa003.jpg

Corsa004.jpg

Rite then i moved up in the world and bought this 1.8 mk3 golf driver, i loved this car.

Duncspics011.jpg

quicksilver005.jpg

At this point i had the golf, corsa and 106, the engine in the corsa spat a piston through the block one

morning and i bought the 106 to do up and sell on, (was a cat c) ended up costing me more than i got

for it! And i wanted to keep the golf and sell the others, but as id borrowed the money of parents

i had to sell the golf as the corsa was at work having an engine put in. I heard the woman who

bought it stuffed it into the back of a lorry :(

So i eventually had all those cars sold and bought a mk4 polo a 1.4 16v sport. This had

a stainless supersprint manifold, decat, shrick cams, vr6 leather seats, at one point i had

some bbs rm's with powdercoated black centres on it. 280mm g60 brake upgrade, discs on the

rear, lowered on g-max shocks and springs. Here she is,

Awesome little car, sounds great too. Sold it to a good mate who had to spend

£500 on a black diamond recon box about 3 months into owning it. There common on these cars.

Think hes selling it now to get rid of his debt :)

Neway i sold the polo because one day my dad pointed out a lupo in the local paper

and told me we should go and have a look, both liked it so much he lent me the cash

and i sold the polo to pay him back, a little anyway.

duncspics114.jpg

duncspics112.jpg

And finally ive just bought this mk1 golf thats getting totally bare shelled, resprayed

and re-engined this coming year.

Id say im doing average for 19 years old on an apprentices wage :)

They are standard yea, they must have done a couple of different designs of teledials. I had another set

that were different shapes on before these ones.
