Just at the title says smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> sorry if this has been repeated several times before but i couldn't find anything on this subject.

Also, do i look out for the same things on a Lupo as they're pretty much the same? Just in case i go for the other instead!

Thanks

AJ

They are exactly the same really, and yours looking at the better one of the two coffee.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />

Main problems are pedal box issues, dont think there are many other comon problems really, just the usual for every car, clutch wear electrics working etc.

If its more than 4 years old or done more than 40K checki if its had a cambelt change. If not factor that into the price and try to use it to haggle with.

What engine and trim model are you looking to get in the arosa?

Oh right early mk2 then, with the red rear lights.

Just as i said, check it ifs had its cambelt done, it should have since its 6 years old now but if not it wants doing ASAP.

Carnt think of anything specific for arosas to ask about really, they dont have rust issues or anything like that.

Just make sure its a good clean car, good service history electric windows work, remote central locking works, things like that, the usual.

Good luck with finding a good one, chris

cheers mate.

Its a 1.0 S 2001 X Reg Arosa with 61k.

anything specific i should ask?

for a start make sure it is indeed an 'S' model and not a bogo basic one with wind up windows which seem to always get advertsied as S models

they dont have rust issues or anything like that.

Just make sure its a good clean car, good service history electric windows work, remote central locking works, things like that, the usual.

Wrong again chris they do have rust problems, rolleyes.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> check around the top of the suspension struts at the front, under the rear arches especially near the fuel cap, around the engine mounts these are all common places and could easily be heavy rust on a car over 5 years old sounds daft but check the exhaust system maily near the back tailppipe and centre join you dont wanyt to buy a car and then replace the exhaust straight away people wrongly believe that cause modern cars are zinc coated they dont rust check everywhere and evertyhing you would with an old car

door straps , if the doors creak and crack when they open it they will be away . common fault , both of mine are away *rolls eyes*

common problem again that needs sorting asap mums 54 reg has this and its one of a nu,ber of things that has had to be sorted, it was lfet on my sisters punto and ended ripping an inch square of metal out of the door blink.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

check it accelerates easily with no delay like revs rising but no acceleration etc which may indicate cultch slip

check the clutch works freely with no tightspot which could indicate the pedal box failure and check the gears all change smoothly

check there is no knocking from the bottom of the engine my mums 54 reg 1.4 8v (same basic engine) had the whole bottom end replaced when 1 year old its just one of the many problems the car ahas had and continues to have, just be aware of these and other mentioned problems and dont think VAG group is how it used to be arosa and lupos have just as many faults as other cars but good luck findiong a car you like smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

THat often happens, sometimes even they are badged as an 'S' and have steel wheels and no electric windows etc, so just try to get a proper S model, there is very little difference if any in price between the base and S models anyway.

Mk2 Arosas are fully galvanised, and have a 12 year anti rust warranty, so there shouldnt be any problems with rust on a mk2, unless its been damaged. I know mk1s have rust issues, ive seen quite a few with rust, but i was meaning the mk2s when i said that rolleyes.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

When i was asking around VAG sepecialists about my engine problem on my 1.0 arosa (as the Seat Stealer did not have a clue!) they said they have never heard of a problem with the 1.0 engine before and its usually the 1.4 that has problems if any. Ive seen 1.0 engined arosas with 160K on them, so it just shows they are usually quite reliable, only i got a special one that wasnt huh.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> but it is now biggrin.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

The cheapest i'm getting is from Quinn Direct. £1493 with Pass Plus.

Everyone else has said £2000 and above! I told them the Quinn Direct price and they've told me to just go with it because even they know i won't find a better price than that! lol

Hello smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Your bro knows me over on SCN - we had a natter at Ultimate Dubs.

You know you want an Arosa....insurance is hard though, its probably partly the London postcode - cost me £1300 my first year on my own for 1.0 fully comp sad.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Gets better once you've got the first years NCB though

Ello lunalupi! Nice to meet you! smile.gif style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I was with my bro when we were cleaning the car next to you! I was the one cleaning the windows and he was the one wiping the rest of the car lol.

Yeah i'm hoping it'll get better with 1 year NCB. Thank god i got my pass plus done, without it the're quoting me just over £1600!

How long have you owned yours?
