Putney
I am sure most of you know the history of GTi so I wont prattle on about that, I was thinking about the cars I was reading up on as a spotty teenager. Going back less than 10 years. There used to be quite a few Gti’s about not only Volkswagen. Ford, Nissan, Seat are a few other manufactures who also released Gti variants of some of there popular cars. I am sure you peeps can come up with a list of other GTi model cars. Well apart from Volkswagen all the other manufactures have ceased GTi production and have gone with variants of R’s or S’s to depict a performance model. Such as Type R Honda’s. Vauxhall VXR’s, Ford – RS. Mini Cooper S. So it just seems to be good old Volkswagen holding onto the Gti badge even though their range topping performance hatch has an R in front of it.My post is actually an observation but just for fun let’s see how many GTI’s we can come up with.ready steady go! Putney
Ar eyou sure? Why would the new 107 gti be less than the 180 bhp cars they got now on the gti?
NBR
100% Got the e-mail from HQ yesterday... comes with free insurance too & low rate finance... Thats the 207 not the 107 as you said above... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />As to why would they make a 175bhp 207 when there was a 180bhp 206 is anyones guess... But "apparently" it has loads more torque than the 206 gti 180... and does go better round a track than the clio 197 "apparently".... but we will see.... Will let you know when i get mine style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> about March Edited January 5, 2007 by NBR
Putney
ok my mistake but, the 206 GTI engine has 180bhp so why will the replacement 207 only have 175bhp?

Putney
how queer, style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":coffee:" border="0" alt="coffee.gif" />Ok so it's not a 2.0 NA any more it's a 1.6 turbo. that makes more sense but auto express thinks it's going to have more Horses. the 207 GTi will have in excess of 180bhpRest of the article here
