My Car Diary

Currently Driving

  1. Just got my first car an 08' VW Fox. The front bumper needed a respray so i got it smoothed at the same time. Getting it as low as i can next, anyone had and experience with how low you can actually go with the car? I have looked underneath and there is about 120mm clearance for the lowest point under the car? Dont want flush or poke just a nice fitment. I am hoping to get some 15' banded steels staggered but i'm going to leave that for a later date. Any feedback will be appreciated.
  2. Hey there, I'm currently looking for some coilovers for my Arosa as my springs just aren't low enough! Anyone selling any cheap? I just want lows around 80-100mm so please do not share any that will not go that low! Thank you.
  3. Hi all, I’ve recently purchase some lowering springs for a Lupo for my Seat Arosa. Two of the springs are quite large and two of them are much thinner with tighter coils. Would someone be able to tell me which ones go on the front and which way up they should go? I am under the understanding that the larger ones go at the front? It just seems to me like the small ones are much too small. I’ve attached a picture.

Hi guys, someone have a pics of your car with a coilover or lowering springs about 80mm. I don't know if take a new coilover or done a lowering Spring. My coilover now (a Lowtec) there isn't so confortable. What's are the tyres? Thanks
  5. I have an early model arosa I want to buy lowering springs , the site I want to buy them off fk-shop.de have them for a lupo but doesn't say what model before or after face lift. I'm just wondering does that matter, do all models of Arosa/Lupos share suspension ? Also is that a reputable site to buy off or any suggestions for somewhere else would be much appreciated Thanks Alex

    Lowering help

Hi guys I'm really wanting to lower my lupo when I get enough money to, I was wondering if you could help me by showing me yours and saying how many mm you are down, so I can get an idea of how low I'll be looking to go. Ideally I'd have it on the ground but I need to drive it everywhere without too much worry. But pictures and amounts would be appreciated. Thanks - Ollie
  9. Hi, needing springs or coilovers , will buy lowering springs, coilovers or swap plus cash if you're selling the car and want to make it stock again i live in fife Scotland closest preferably
  10. Any one know where to get OEM shocks + lowering springs ? looking for 30mm drop to replace leaky coil overs
  11. I have a set of GAZ coilovers which I have fitted to my Lupo GTI. Currently running on standard 14" wheels and Toyo 195/45 tyres. I also have a rear anti roll bar fitted. The GAZ in addition to the height adjustment have adjustors on each coilovers for ride dampening. The rear ones you access from underneath and there is a dial with about 10 clicks adjustment - to +, the front ones are accessed under the bonnet and has a similar adjustor to the rear. As you can imagine there are many combinations and I have never yet managed to find a set up that is not shudderingly hard or soft mattress bouncing. I wondered if anyone has similar coilovers and has found a good set up. Thanks Jeremy
  12. Hey guys, anyone can post a picture with their Lupo or Arosa, lowered on AP springs? Thanks!
  13. Ok so I'm 17, 18 in a few weeks and I'm thinking of buying a lupo as my 1st car. I want to lower it, would you recommend coilovers? Also has anyone around my age done this because I want to know what effect it has on insurance.
  14. Morning all! I recently bought myself this lovely little loop, so this is my first post on here, and just wanted some advice on the first steps to take to improve the old girl! Well, here she is: Basically any advice on what modifications would look good? any and all opinions welcome! oh and what lowering springs would you lot recommend? as i cant afford coilovers for a long time and those arch gaps are awful!
  15. just wondering how low 100mm front and 70mm back would look, i dont want to buy them and not be pleased with the outcome, ]i was looking at these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271284312244?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  16. I've recently bought a 1.4 Lupo and I would like to lower it. I would only want to go down 40mm (maybe 60mm at a push) and I'm wondering how best to go about this. I've been advised to go for lowering springs rather than coilovers because a.) I don't need go go really low, as the roads around Sheffield are shocking! And b.) I've been told that coilovers offer a harsher ride over lowering springs as they are more track/B road focused. My questions are: Are there any massive disadvantages with the cheap ebay springs such as Lo Suspension and FK's?! Will I need to uprate the shocks to cope with the added stress? Also will will I need my alignment sorted for a 40mm drop? Any other suggestions and advice welcome Thanks!
  17. Does anyone know or could anyone advise me how low ill have to go with my 13 inch dished wheels for my lupo , need help asap Thanks.
  18. has anyone got any pictures with theirs lowered 40mm, preferably with 15" wheels, just getting an idea of what it would look like because I want to lower mine, but keep the stock dampers, also would 60mm be to much with my stock dampers? thanks
  19. Just been quoted by my insurance company (Admiral) that they would want £128 extra? if i was to change the suspension in my car and they said they would allow me to change the wheels for no extra fee if i was to do this. So i am thinking of putting some 50inch truck wheels on and raising the suspension 1500mm! Well really they said i can do anything up to 50mm (5cm there words) So that in mind, also bearing in mind im on a tight ass student budget! What are the pro's and Cons of Buying a set of springs £64 for my TDI 1.4 lupo or buying (i think its the cheapest) JOM Blueline Coilovers at £189. Is the handling, braking, accelerating, comfort, reliability or anything better by having the whole coilover kit as appose to just the springs? bearing in mind my lupos suspension is nearly 11 years old! One last question oooober question. If i was to go out and get some new wheels for my Lupo at some point, would it be best to do this before putting on the new coilovers (as they are adjustable) that way i would no if the wheels fit or not? or would i be able to just crank the suspension height right up put the wheels on, and then lower the car back down to a specific height, as obviously wheels change the ride height, (is adjusting it a simple job?) (Spring clamps are about £10) So the difference is really £64 + £10 + £128 = £202 £189 + £10 + £128 = £327 Thanks people.
  20. Hi, i've just turned 17 and are about to by a vw lupo and want to lower it and need some information on it. If i want to lower it can i just get shorter springs?
  21. Hi, I have a 2004 Seat Arosa S 1.0 which is in desperate need of mods. I want to start with lowering it so if anyone has any 40mm springs or could tell me where to go to get some that aren't too expensive, please let me know! Thanks
  22. Hi I have a Lupo 1.4 16v sport and i'm looking to have a play and pretty it up a bit! A guy at work is looking to get rid of some Golf 4motion wheels for cheap, I've looked into PCD adapters - 4x100 to 5x100(15mm spacer) and tyres - 185/55 R14 to 195/40 R16 to keep my speedo in check. First off will 16s go on a non GTi? I've seen mixed threads on this, some say yes some no... And i'm unsure of how much to lower it by once the wheels are on, if they fit. I'm not looking to slam it, I just want to get the wheels tight into the arches so the car doesn't look like its on 16" stilts!! any help would be great. cheers.
  23. Fitting coilovers to my 1.4 lupo sport, as its up in the clouds at the moment... is it worth getting droplinks to fit with them? struggling to find any definitive answers anywere...
  24. Hi All, Looking to lower my Lupo on a very tight budget. I do not want major lows, just a tad, so found these -60mm springs on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f0d474daa Has anybody ever used them? Also after lowering on springs, what do I need to get adjusted on the car? Tracking? Camber? Thanks, Irfan (Using the search function at the same time )
