My Car Diary

Currently Driving

  1. Hi there, I want to add some Kawasaki Green silicone hoses to my 1.4 Lupo just for asthetic reasons, does anyone know what lengths, widths and angles I'd need to run them through the engine bay? Thanks from Lewis
  2. Hi I was driving my 1.4 lupo to work the other day and I noticed the battery light flash on and off a few times it didn't do it again until the next day but when it did the car was fine until I was driving home from work. The battery light flashed for a long time and when I slowed down/stopped the car at traffic lights the intieror lights would flash on and of sometimes my car would almost reset its self, I was then stuck in traffic because of snow when I was on the last road home it was severely icy so I stopped and turned the ignition off, I turned my ignition on again and nothing my car was completely dead, I then got a jump start to get home and then my engine light came on it was confusing as it was only m.o.t'd a month ago now my car wont start at all and starts to make strange noises whenever I have tried to start it again all lights come on, if I put.my key in and turn the lights on the front lights are dim but then interior is fine, if I then turn the ignition on the interior lights turn off, I haven't got a clue what has happened to the car.
  3. hi guys ive been through the forums and not found any information regarding finding an engine code without the paperwork. apparently my car has had an engine swap from the 1.4 16v to the 1.4 sport but i cannot seem to find my engine code. the thing is also my car seems to only want to rev up to 6 while sports are meant to rev up to 7 aren't they but i still have the original clocks. i need to know to make my life easier can somebody help me please
  4. i currently have a 1.0 arosa and its just not fast enough my cars currently being dubbed to the max bbs rims on the way already have the stretched tyres and its cammed and slammbed on minilights but i need help knowing whats the biggest engine will just go striaght in can anyone help me ?
  5. if not does anyone know a body kit similar to the gti because ive heard the gti has a lot more panels rather than just the kit cheers guys
  6. So my beloved 1litre is nearly dead. Anyone know any companies out there that will source an engine and swap them for me? And does anyone know if it's possible to swap from 1.0 to 1.4 with ease, like is or just a mount change or are the shapes completely different? I live in South Wales of anyone knows anywhere local... Thanks.
  7. Hi my lupo is a 2000 1.0 E MPI (ALD engine code) had my lupo on the road for just under a month now took rocker cover off to see how hard it was to replace tappets (could hear it was very tapity)but found that the cam, cylinder head and rocker cover are heavily worn. So due to the fact it has oil pump problems and is down On compression I'm getting a replacement engine. How hard is it to swap the engines and what is the best way to go about it I do have access to a two post ramp and tools to do job most likely going to an AUC 1.0 MPI engine will this still run on my ECU ?
  8. Hi guys Was wondering if all engine swaps had to pass an emission test... i ask this because ive toyed with the idea of a beetle engine which is of course very poor on emissions. Would it have to pass an emissions test? Don't start questioning my reasons im trying to break free from the cookie cutter mods everyone seems to do.
  9. Cheers Mates. I'm from Romania. Here the Lupo's aren't that popular, but the owners are very proud of this little car. A friend of mine from the vw lupo club romania fitted cruise control on his TDI 1.4 AMF. I was wondering if I could do the same on my little 1.0 AUC. It's fly by wire, and has a clutch switch also. I basically want to know the login code for the vagcom. I guess it's different from TDI's, isn't it? Please give me some good news.
  10. So, the poor little engine in my 1.0 Lupo is on its last legs. And rather than trading her in for a new cari want to change the engine. Too many memories and all that. But, as I'm sure everyone's aware 1.0 engines are like rocking horse **** to find, and also not giving me enough go. So my question is, I'm planning to source and put in a 1.2. I'll obviously change the clutch plate too but is there anything else that'll need changing? Engine mounts etc. Or is it a straight swap? Cheers, Tom
  11. Hi Guys & Girls, Just a quick one. I've seen a few people have painted the plastic engine cover. There are 4 bolts I can see, are these the only bolts holding the engine cover in place? Are these also holding anything else in place? Do they need to be torqued up? Cheers Ollie
  12. So i previously owned a 1.4 lupo S in yellow, loved it to bits, but sold it, had a few mods, lowered, debumpstripped, map, sprayed badges the usual, Enough about the old car, i got a dent in it from hitting someones backbox on a dualcarriageway! ): After selling this i bought the Green 1.4 sport! This is when i got it! Straight away had problems, engine management light came on, caused by loads of **** in the air intake, basically an old man owned this car for 8 years! and never put his foot down in it meaning that it slowly got clogged up and full of sh**t so i had to take off the EGR valve to clean up and intake head, this sorted things out Yes the engine was very dirty but it soon looked like this! (rocker cover was in the boot) Got a few little mods straight away like some white bulbs, had yellow ones in the old car, wasn't easy to see! and some of them aeroflats! Also the exhaust was completely black soon had it shining! My old car had no bumpstrips, it looked so much better, so thought it'd be good idea to take mine off the new sport, although hit problems straight away, it'd clearly been previously sprayed! ): This is currently how the car is looking, and the coilovers are ofcourse on order!, Thats all for now! i'll post soon on any updates! work in progress!
  13. 1.0L lupo to do a engine conversion with, but it being my second year of driving and being my first engine conversion I'm only thinking of dropping a 1.4 or 1.6 engine in it. So i'm wondering whats going to be the easiest engine to fit and the best to tune up? So if u can help guide me, it would help a lot Cheers Luke
  14. My girlfriend has a 1999 1.7 sdi that's loads of trouble latest problem to overcome is that the engine suddenly pulls well above 2000 revs (really sudden pick up compared to anything lower) but has bugger all power and torque until then, which is weird for a diesel, it's not a turbo either. it's not very fuel efficient either which is disappointing. any clues you clever knowledgeable people ? where do I start ? the only thing that comes up on a code search (using a wag305 obdII thingy) is 17656 'fuel level low'
  15. Where is the intake manifold in the Arosa model? Can a vacuum gauge be fitted onto intake manifold of 1.4tdi ? Where can a free engine diagram for Arosa 1.4 tdi be found?
  16. Just wondering roughly how much i can expect to pay to rebuild a bottom end completely? As a guide, i will be doing the following: Main bearings Big end bearings Little end bearings New pistons/rings along with machining of bores Crank seals Gaskets Also, are there any simple and effective mods i can do while i'm down there, along the lines of: -Knife edge crank to help it rev easier -Lightweight pistons -Skim the block to raise compression -White metal bearings
  17. Go to last page for most recent updates. Currently running 423bhp. How she stands at the moment. Hello, Before I start I just want to say a quick something to all those people who go on about people who pay for these kinda things and don't get a finger dirty! Its not that I don't want to do my own conversion, I'd love to do it myself but I don't have the skills required or the time that would be needed. Things that I can do myself like brakes, suspension and other bits and bobs I have but this is just too far past me, Lol! But hey if you wanna have a pop at me feel free lol! My car is a 1.4sport on a 1999 plate. I've already uprated the brakes to 280mm G60's on the front and it has black diamond drilled and grooved discs all the way round with black diamond pads as well! Its lowered on FK highsport silerline coilovers and is currently runnin on G60 steelies. The car is being done by PSI Tuning in Stoke on Trent who've had the car for about 3-4 weeks now. They've not long finished off the custom mounts and have the engine sitting where its going to be going. The engine is a 225bhp lump with a five speed box on it. Here are the pictures during.... Thanks for looking, I'll keep you updated on the progress. Sam.
