Overheating - Coolant Reservoir bubbling after a 15min run

Sounds like you may need a new thermostat outlet, they are made with a solid piece of plastic that runs across the middle of the outlet that a pin on the thermostat pushes onto when its opening. Even with a new thermostat fitted, if the plastic piece is missing, it has nothing to push the pin onto, so the thermostat can't open -
1991 VW Golf MK2 1.6 Auto Driver in Grey on 122k miles
lupogtiboy replied to Gradley's topic in Cars for Sale
I would guess they are running 4x100 to 5x120 convertors as these are Porsche alloys. GLWS, nice and clean Mk2! -
Any plans to make more?

GTI Rear Exhaust Bracket
lupogtiboy replied to Pringle's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
Part number is 6X0 253 144 D Obsolete from VW now, but google the part number and a few places come up. -
Erm... you do realise this a post that started in 2011?

I am used to driving a GTI on coilovers and a Whiteline rear ARB, so been spoilt a bit over the years. Just managed to get a decent Pioneer double-din headunit by swapping it with a Polo a friend had in his used car stock. I'm planning on making a parcel shelf to put some rear speakers in, don't want to cut up the current shelf, and they're easy to make anyway. Got some 6x9's somewhere I used to have in my 6N Polo, that'll do for now anyway! I'll grab some pics tomo if I remember!

Thanks guys! It definitely needs lowering as it handles like a boat! I'm so used to a GTI on coilovers, guess I've been spoilt over the years!

My dad and I now own a Cedar Green Lupo 1.4s, bought it from a work mate of mine. Getting the cambelt, waterpump and a small service done on her this weekend and she'll be good to go! I need to get my Up! Triangle alloys back from a mate of mine and I'll fit them to this Lupo, should look quite sweet! Ideally could do with a new N/S headlamp as it's gone cloudy, but I'll try polishing it out first.

Physically, it will fit, but the Polo uses the later FAKRA plugs and CANBUS to switch the radio into 'hibernation' when the car is locked. This may cause a battery drain over time as the radio will never be fully switched off. TBH, you'd be better getting an Android headunit or a decent double-din radio, far more functionality, ie, DAB, nav, bluetooth, car play etc....

Steering rack bolts are 4x N 906 330 02, but these are obsolete from VW now. Specs are M8x80x40, looks like this below
-
X4 N 106 403 01 (M12x1.5x100)

If I remember correctly, the only GTI options in the UK were sunroof, aircon, metallic paint, cd player, leather and possibly 5 seater rear bench, but happy to be corrected if I'm wrong
-
I don't think factory nav was a UK option
-
Leather was a factory option, my GTI came with factory heated leather

Loose rear number plate light, presumably mount fix?
lupogtiboy replied to JagoLupoGTi's topic in Volkswagen Lupo
The screws only hold the plastic 'glass' onto the actual frame that sits into the bumper, so you'll need a complete number plate lamp to fix. The plastic retaining clip has probably broken off, new one is £18.07 inc vat from VW, though you can get a pair of LED ones on eBay for around £10 -
Belt tensioner pulley tdi part number?
lupogtiboy replied to mk2's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
You can't get the pulley on it's own from VW, so I doubt any aftermarket companies would supply it like that either. Only comes with the whole tensioner from VW as shown below: -
Earlier 4 pin temp sensor is 059 919 501

Lupo GTI using oil (a lot)
lupogtiboy replied to szrdave's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
I really want to get all of the bolt-on parts of mine powder coated one-day, just need to win the lottery to be able to afford it! -
Not straight in, no. The Mk3 Golf uses the same rails as the 6N polo, Mk2 Golf and Mk1 Arosa. Mk4 Golf seats are a closer fit, but still need a bit of modding to fit straight in
