  1. Is this happening all the time? so when the car is warm or from cold start? and you only see something happening at idle or throughout the rev range? What spark plugs are you using? Id recommend only using OEM ones as we have seen many problems caused by aftermarket plugs. That is normal behaviour for an electronic throttle, as the lupo has no IACV it uses the throttle as its idle control which is monitored through RPM and MAP data. They do have a tendency to get corroded motor position contacts, you can check this by unclipping the black cover of the electronic part of the throttle IIRC. I would check these issues before you go throwing parts at it. EDIT: I just realised you have tried a few TB's. Id have a look at your timing then MAP sensor next. John
  2. Really? Oooops Whats stopping you wrapping it in bubble wrap and stuffing it in a box? thats what i did....
  3. There is no airflow wire.... Like i said the lupo AUB engine don't use MAF, im pretty sure the BBZ doesn't either.
  4. Huw, Ellie..... Stunning job, cant wait to see it.
  5. The engine doesn't have a MAF does it? Atleast in the Lupo it doesn't. The lupo uses MAP, with temperature/pressure compensation. Ive not herd of this being used before, So good luck if you can get it to work. It seems like quite a bit of kit used on a lot of jap cars. John
  6. Read my build thread, It might give you an idea of what ive done. I have a TB/Supercharger setup. I run an emerald K3 Standalone ECU. Don't even think about the pug one, thats total crap and it will not work. You will need a standalone, or at least a piggyback ecu to get the TB's running properly. John
  7. Does the SDi have an electronic priming pump? As this is the problem with mechanical pumps, in the colder months mechanical pumps struggle to start due to the viscosity of the veg oil. Meaning the pump cant prime itself properly. We did a load of research in to this at work. Bio fuel/Veg oil is a very harsh fuel when it comes to the internals of any High pressure pump, putting an additive in to the fuel did seem to help them, also running a 50:50 or 75:25 mix with diesel helps a lot. Some very good info on here: http://www.vegetableoildiesel.co.uk/forum/index.php guys who make there own fuel and have modified tank systems to allow them to run all year round (|tank heaters, electric priming pumps, return line Tees... ect etc) John
  8. A few people i know use Bio diesel and twin tank system, but not in lupos. Mechanical fuel pumps don't seem to like it too much, but i don't know about the lupos diesel pump. If anything, you should just add a super lubricant like Boron motor silk to the fuel, Will help the pump life. John
  9. I converted to a cable throttle, which is a fun old job! They are 30mm TB's, the thinnest that you can get to fit it all in with that manifold. John
  10. This is a pretty good polished cage, Welds still need a bit of work like...
  11. you can pay on the gate, but its going to be £15 for the weekend as opposed to £10
  12. Ok so with me moving house pretty soon i don't think i will be abel to organise this. Treblet is going to organise it this year, he will be sending you a PM shortly if you are on the list. Tickets will be £10 each plus £1 for postage and paypal fees. John
  13. Have fun with that one! Back to your manifold adaptor plate, any machine shop will make a plate up, it doesn't have to be an automotive place. Anywhere with a CNC milling machine should be able to make something for you, dunno how expensive it would be like, but if you got a batch made, im sure they wouldn't be too difficult to sell on. John
  14. Very hard to get one, but if you keep searching you will find one. You will have more luck searching abroad for one, although there are a few UK companies that do sell them for the 1.4 16v engine. Other than that, depending on what length body you are using you could go to a machine shop with an inlet gasket and get them to make a plate that matches the spacings on the intake gasket. John
  15. Not seen a straight G101 foam before, seen a mix used before. G101 takes wax an polish straight off. I suppose its good if you are going to go through a full detail and correction to start with as it will leave you a clean base to start with.
  16. I cant believe you foamed your car with G101..... What dilution ratio?
  17. I spent 20k over 3 years on a lupo that saw one show season and then broke, it now sits in a shed in 100s of pieces, Talk about waste of money, but it will be back, after spending more money on it! And houses, yeah that sucks... Just bought mine and move in in the middle of may. £43,000 in deposit..... gone
  18. Theres 240mm clearance between the head and the servo, which is what the trumpet hits on, Id allow 20mm fro engine movement, unless you solidify the engine mounts. Depends on what manifold you have Gareth, after what you tell me most of the time, i don't think you have anything This is a 120mm manifold, 30mm TB's and 90mm Trumpets, its hard to see how close it is, but they are about 3mm from the servo:
  19. Im aware of that. Dave already has a manifold for TB's though. whats there total length from the end of the trumpet to the manifold joint?
  20. Dave they wont fit with the manifold you have, they will be half way through the bulkhead! Plus you really need some shorter ones as you'l be spending a lot more time up at higher revs. John
  21. How many wires? And by left hand side do you mean as well look at it? or drivers/passengers side?
  22. Sounds like your oil pump might have packed in, giving you oil starvation at the head.
  23. There not bulbs, they are surface mount LED's And i think, if you swap the clock over from gti to non gti, you would get the airbag light as the coding in the clocks for the airbag control module would not match the coding in the one you put in its place. John
