  1. Thanks guys. I was hoping to tackle this at the weekend but the bushes haven't arrived
  2. I don't think there is any specific compound that is better than others. It is all about the way you tackle it. Handy How to Guide with 3 options here: http://www.wikihow.com/Repair-Oxidized-Cloudy-Headlights-with-a-Headlight-Cleaner Great write up with photos here: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=229157&highlight=headlight+cleaner This is a good kit if you don't have a rotary polisher, you just need a drill: http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/3m-headlight-lens-restoration-system.php?manufacturers_id=23
  3. Thanks for explaining that guys. One other question which may sound stupid, I am planning on leaving the check strap in the door and trying to do it whilst the door is attached to the car. How did you ensure you did not bend the check strap lever or create other issues whilst applying pressure to remove the bush ?
  4. Just wanted to understand this better as I may do this at the weekend. When you say it started to crack, what did, the lever or the old bush ? I assume you mean the lever as I guess the old bush is being thrown away anyway ?
  5. A little worried about pulling it from the wires, could end up with no side lights at all I assume though that the bulb holder above the indicators just pulls out from the xasing then with no other clips etc to worry about
  6. Hi all, I recently purchased one of these OBD II Bluetooth readers: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190927316430?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Does anyone know if they work or has tried them with the Lupo ?
  7. I bought the above recommended side light bulbs and tried to fit them last weekend but with no luck I managed to undo the silver clip and pulled out the back cover of the sidelights/indicator unit to reveal the wires and the back of the indicator bulb and the side light holder above it. What I couldn't figure out, and not wanting to break anything, how do I remove the sidelight bulb holder ? Do you just pull it, does it twist, is there some other clip holding it in ? Any help would be appreciated Thanks
  8. Loving what you have done to your Lupo ad well deserved award
  9. Thanks for the quick reply mate...ordered a set now
  10. Sorry guys, being a little thick here and just wanted to check, are these the ones you used for the sidelights ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291035407746?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 Are they straight swap for the original bulbs as when I put in Lupo GTI as my car, it says they are not compatible. Thanks
  11. Hi Ben. Do these rub and have you had the arches rolled ?
  12. So if the same micro-switch in the lock operates the interior light AND the light buzzer BUT only the interior light comes on, can I then assume that the problem is with the actual Buzzer part/module ?
  13. Thanks Matt (and for the email)
  14. Thanks for the part numbers and spraying advice. I will wait until the weather gets better and then give it a go
  15. Nice photos Will. Looks a little like mine. I also have a faded i on the front badge and missing the tow cover ! I was thinking of getting a replacement cover and a can of spray paint to match the black of my GTI. I see you did yours in matt Do you think it would look OK if I sprayed with the normal "gloss" black from VW ? Also, if you do have a spare red "i" that would be great I was contemplating buying a new badge but there are other bits I need to spend my money on first.
  16. W I understand the micro switch for the interior light is in the lock mechanism which seems to work fine but does anyone know where the micro switch for the buzzer is located ?
  17. Lovely Lupo there Will. Well done for finding one of the few Lasers
  18. Lots of people asking for these but no reply or contact as to supply ! Are they still available ?

    Wheels for GTI ?

Interested in some wheels that are 15" 7.5J width and an offset of 21 Do you guys think they will rub on standard suspension and if not, how low could I go before they would rub ?
  20. I thought I would posy a quick update on Wolfie. Just before I bought him, he had new pads and discs all round. Since buying, I have had the engine oil, gearbox oil and brake fluid changed. Last week, I got Yaash to put Powerflex bushes on the front arb and lower wishhbones. He noew drives much tighter I have also changed the front wipers to Bosch aero blades. Just need to do the back one now. I have also ordered a bunch of stuff from eBay which I have yet to get round to fitting. Hopefully will get them put on when the weather gets better. I bought the following: Red stripe for grille: Wind Deflectors: LED Number Plate bulbs:
  21. Mine is not low mileage at a genuine 85k but it is low owners. It was owned by one owner from new up until 2012 and then the guy I bought it from for about 18 months. I am now the 3rd owner, not bad for a car that 11 years old.
  22. I replaced mine with Pagid disks and pad from ECP when they were doing 30% off brake parts a few weeks ago.
  23. Great thread and a great car - really enjyed looking through it, particularly the photos The 16" wheels you had on the car before you sold them: - What width and offset were they ? - How much was the car lowered with those wheels ?
  24. Nice looking car....in the split second I saw it as it went by
