  1. This is the sort of kit I mean: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PASSAT-LUPO-AROSA-LEON-TOLEDO-DOOR-LOCK-CYLINDER-REPAIR-KIT-FRONT-RIGHT-LEFT-/230942907645?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ALupo&hash=item35c5451cfd I don't know if that one is any good or not. I bought one that was brass coloured and the parts didn't fit very well.Maybe the steel coloured one is better, I don't know.
  2. That's the bit that joins the lock barrel to the lock mechanism, it looks badly degraded so I don't know what condition the other parts are going to be in. You can buy a "lock repair kit" on eBay that includes the part above and there are instructions for disassembling the lock mechanism on youtube. You'll want to take the lock barrel out, see what condition it is in. If the rest looks okay buy they lock repair kit. If the barrel is also rusted you might need a whole new one.
  3. Also remember to ask how many keys they have. If they only have one key you need to factor in the cost of getting a spare made
  4. Yeah exhausts come in sections, if the rest of the exhaust is in okay condition there's no real reason to replace. Best to ring around and get a good price, tonnes of places do exhausts
  5. You did the right thing, everyone has to do it Some car manufacturers like being difficult, at least they didn't swap 12v and ground though
  6. Interestingly I think my battery was OEM when it failed after 13 years, simply lacked the power to start the car from cold.
  7. I'd like to build a list of the batteries people use in their Lupos or Arosas. If you want to contribute please could you provide: Your engine type and code, eg 1.4 Petrol 16V 75HP AUA VW Part number (if known), eg 1J0 915 105 AC UK Battery spec number, eg 027 Spec, eg 60AH, 480 CCA Battery Make / Model Is your battery a like for like replacement of the OEM battery? How long has your battery lasted so far? If you've used several please feel free to post details of all.
  8. EPC light could mean lots of things, you need to get it decoded. 1) Find someone near you with VCDS and beg them to do it 2) Take it to a garage and pay them £20 to decode it 3) Buy the cheap USB Cable on eBay and download the Shareware version of VCDS Lite and decode it yourself (this sometimes takes a bit of fiddling about with settings to get it working)
  9. "Selling for a friend"? Steer clear. Usually means they are selling something dodgey and want to avoid any comeback
  10. Thanks for the tip pkrboo, I was going to give it a try but luckily the problem has gone away all on it's own. One thing that surprised me is how big the battery is for such a small car. I replaced like for like with the old battery, which is a 027 that weighs about 15kg, they are 24cm x 17cm x 19cm but when I've looked on the battery guides I see online they all seem to suggest a smaller battery for this model (1.4 16v AUA). I wonder if I'm weighing down my car for no reason and a smaller battery would have done just as well
  11. Just had to replace my battery (old one looks like original fit, could it be 13 years old? ), fitted new one and car starts fine now. The only problem is the first time I start the car the throttle doesn't work. You can press down on the pedal and you get no chain in RPM. Because it's an automatic you can use the creep to move around a little without the throttle. Anyway, if you turn the car off and on again the problem goes away and you can use the throttle as per normal. This has happened every time I start it after leaving it for 30 minutes. I've done a VCDS scan and it came up with an error code 17972 which is: 17972/P1564/005476 - Throttle Actuator (J338): Under-Voltage during Basic Setting http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17972/P1564/005476 The battery was a cheap one but I've checked the voltage on rest and it is 12.88, so that should be fine. Anyone got any ideas? I don't know which cables run to the throttle actuator but all the connections on the battery itself look okay It's the AUA 1.4 16v 75hp engine

    vagcom

I've never tried it on a mac but there is free software called VirtualBox that you can use to run Windows on your Mac. You could theoretically buy the eBay VAGCOM cable and download the shareware version from the Ross website

    J7 UPO

Was it J7 UPO I spotted in Plymouth today?
  14. That's interesting, thanks. I wonder if you can use the same USB cable for VAG Tacho as for VCDS (shareware) I'm guessing you'd need the paid version of VCDS to actually do the reprogramming though
  15. I've lost a key, possibly outside, so it's possible one of my sneaky neighbours has it. Is it possible to program the immobiliser to remove the lost key from the list of keys allowed to start the engine? I've tried searching and googling but all I can find are references to adding keys and remote fobs etc.
  16. The colours are theoretically the same, but with differences in batches of paint and ageing and fade they may not be an exact match.
  17. You're gonna change the whole tailgate?
  18. It's definitely some combination of turning it and either pushing it in or pulling it out.
  19. Maybe it depends on year then? My 2k1 S has the larger driver's mirror
  20. No, I don't know who's it is, it just looks so sad
  21. Isn't this the saddest little lupo you've ever seen?
  22. Don't worry, it's not size that matters
  23. You gonna start smuggling something?
