  4. Hey peeps. Lol, I do work in a Pets at Home store. I can happily say for myself and a number of the staff I work with are well informed on the fish we stock and sell. This can and cant be said for other store staff, I dont know how much training and dedication people put in across the country. Without trying to sound pretentious, Ive undergone alot of training for the past years Ive been there including the OATA course. Im unbelievably impressed with Jen's and others knowledge, you know alot more than myself. Mainly as having a tank yourself, you have more time to focus on the fish you own. Heres a general guide on how you should be sold fish in a Pets At Home Store: The seller needs to know -How long the tank has been set up, inc filter heater -What fish are already in the tank and when was the last time the last lot were put in -How longer journey the customer has on the way home -Intended food -Information/requirments on the purchased fish When problems accure, you should provide a water sample, have it tested and have a more experienced member of staff talk you through whats probably caused the death/ illness. The guarentee is ****, if your fish dies, with undue cause then you are entitled to a replacement (providing the water test is clear), or your money back. We do ask for the fish back as proof, in a seperate bag/container to the water. Along with your reciept. (Reasoning behind- Fair fish.....pop their clogs....oooh lets get some money for it) If an amount of time has passed then it is, and rightfully out of Pets at Home's hands. As for the fish quality, its down to individual stores. Some stores unfortunalty use a courier, which is *****. They get bashed around without a care as to whats in the box. Luckily we have them come direct from the breeder. Maintanence is a biggy too, the tanks should go through the daily routines, clea tanks, cheak inlets, remover debris, treatments etc etc. Its hard to keep such a full scale of fish in the best of bestest condition 100% of the time, so its inevitable that some tanks may be offsale, weakend fish etc. I can see why people choose local fish suppliers as its not on the big scale, and usually there are less fish but a wider variety. The stores are a community, so if you are unhappy then email/ write a letter of complaint as they do get actioned. Sorry for my babble, but I just thought to have some input!

  8. You can also add a bit of food, the rotting process helps it. Piss is a new one on me! Hehe, piddling into a tank.
  9. Oi! Lol, I'll let off, its my job
  10. Normally when a fish cant swim properly i.e goes wonky, floats, cant swim down, its the swim bladder that has a problem. A bacteria infection or of too much feeding is usually the cause. The swim bladder keeps the bouyancy of a fish, like the ear thing we have. If its affected then your fish goes into turbulance lol. Ideally tropical tank set ups should be set up for 2 weeks, the longer you leave it the better growth of bacteria in your tank. Prior to adding new fish always do a water test to test the purity. Guppies are delicate fish anyhoo, so some times the intial stress of been bagged up and moving home is enough to make them ill, or in bad cases, die. They are best not to be put in the tank as the first or second batch of fish. Tetras, ie neons, xrays, silver tips are good starter fish. As are Rasboras, mollys, and danios. Wait awhile before you put more fish in, so the water can settle.

    Lupo 3L

Can someone explain the 3L Tdi's? Ive not come across very good info on them. And my boyfriend insists Im making it up. They are mega economical, no? But how? I would of presumed the bigger enigine would require alot more fuel. When it only cost some guy 90 odd Euros to go across Europe. A wee bit confused me.
  19. I have a purple one and I dont know what thats for either
  20. Ive heard that term before, but only on 60 minute makeover.
