  1. Car now sold! Enjoy it Billy, it was a great little motor for me - keep it updated on here so I can see how you get on. I'm missing it already!!! ............Thanks Clublupo, after 4 years of ownership im going to truely miss my little GTI. What a great car and what a great forum, I found the forum before I even owned mine and it has always been helpful to find out bits with friendly owners and members. Lets hope the next car and its 'scene' is as good as this one!!! Cheers, Tom.
  2. Dear all, To let you know, the GTI is now up for sale!!!! £3,750 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/955185.htm I will post a full advert in the for sale section. Feels so strange putting it on the market, i will be so sad to see it go but a new motor is on the cards!!!
  3. Yeah thats cool thanks, just after some opinions on what sort of sale price... The GTI is a difficult one to price i think because of numbers/rarity/desirability etc...?! Cheers!
  4. Hi all, Going to be selling my GTI in coming months and wanted to pick your brains about how much I should be asking for? Basics (off the top of my head) 2001 (Y) Silver GTI 100k Serviced every 8,000 miles (although no service history from 40k onwards as have done this myself and through family using VW schedule with oils/parts) Cambelt etc... done most recently at 92k Good condition of everything throughout and always well cared for - normal signs for age/milage Personal plate bought with the car (L***UPO) 2/3 previous owners. I LOVE the little car and its now just time for a change, owned the car for approaching 4 years and it has never missed a beat. I bought it with about 40k on the clock and 90% of the 60k I have put on it since has been crusing up and down the A12 on a 60-90mile round trip. It is rarely taken above 3.5k RPM as I just cruise to give me the best MPG return to and from work. The only notable bad point it that 2years or so ago some jealous fool keyed the o/s door about 8-10ins and then onto the o/s rear quarter about the same, this is about a fingernail deep and through only the laquer and and shallow layer of paint I believe - I didnt want to lose my no claims so just left and lived with it. Not sure exactly when up for sale just yet, will be in the next month or so I expect? - photos to follow when up for sale. Your thoughts are appreciated!! Cheers!
  5. How much tread are we talking? - I m in need and v.interested. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> How much you after Tigz? - Would you post also?
  6. Morning all, Last night my loop was victim to being keyed by some low life. Aprox 12in on drivers door, and 8 ins on the o/s rear quarter. The keying is 'medium depth' (can get finger nail in if that makes sense?!) Based in Chelmsford, Essex although work in Tendring - can anyone reccommend a decent bodyshop etc.. for repair? Does anyone have any experience of this and guesstimate costs involved? I am so angry right now, what sort of low-life does such a thing? I work hard for it and some mindless vandal does this - for what?! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":angry2:" border="0" alt="angry.gif" />
  7. Lovely part of the country, I have head that way en route to 'Durness' on the North coast... fantastic driving roads.
  8. Out of interest... where bouts did you get to on the nw tip of Scotland?
  9. Last night a mindless idiot smashed the o/s (drivers) wing mirror of my GTI. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" /> Needless to say I am pretty pi@@ed off, especially as I always fold them in disuade such a thing. It was delibrate as it was on the path side. Expressing the limit of their intelligence the culprit also decided to shove a slice of bread into one of the tailpipes (just to give an idea of mindset!) The casing and mirror are cracked. Anyways... a) Ideas please on how much to replace from independant VW spares/Maindealer/other source? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> It would be fantastic if anyone has a drivers side spare please (siver GTI) please suggest a price? Please let me know, any help is much appreciated! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  10. I can reccommend Clarion DZX858 RMP Think it used to be the top end Clarion CD but only now reduced as it is replaced by a new 2006/07 (?) range. It is an v.impressive headunit, loads of sound adjustment, excellent quality, looks great, really high spec and has a touch screen (for a bit of novelty!) It comes with the leads to play an Ipod through Aux. I bought it direct through the seller (they are a shop) and not through ebay... get the best price that way! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Brilliant unit for £160 Quick edit - Just to add it looks great in the loop with a brushed stainless surround and flat touch screen, you can have all sorts of screen savers/backgrounds to suit.
  11. Car: Vw Lupo Model: Gti Year: 2001 Estimated Value: 5k Yearly Mileage: 10,000 Mods Declared: None Points: None Ncb: Four Cover Type: Full Company: Swift Cover Price: £378 style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> Age:22 My existing insurance runs out at the end of this month but didnt think it was too bad?!
  12. Havent got a picture of mine to hand but its the same as this - Funds dont currently permit building a collection! A leather strap Navitimer would be nice though! border="0" class="linked-image" /> border="0" alt="" />
  13. Just been taking a look at the Brands Hatch website. I hadnt realised how relatively cheap track days were, for all the build-up plus 1half to 2 hours track time its £99! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> If you were a beginner to track driving (like myself) then you can go on a £59 event for a similar thing! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> Considering treating myself in the near future and taking the GTI for a few laps! I have seen overtime that a few members have done this... whats the loop like on a track? (esp. GTI) Can the little VW handle itself out there? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: Just been looking at posts in the 'events' section - With my grown-up hat on there is no way I would thrash the loop at one of these! Wouldnt want to either damage the engine/brakes/gearbox (and/or) smash the poor thing to pieces! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> Hmmm... style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> thinking of convincing my mate to let me use his Golf GTI 16v instead!!! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> He He!!!!
  14. Thanks very much fonefingz, this is what my mate had suggetsed. I shall do this after work - Fingers Crossed!
  15. Got the headunit through this morning and have tried to do a quick intallation during the lunchbreak. Only issue is that once plugged in, the loop's alarm will not work from the keyfob - I have had a friend on the phone who is pretty sure the issue is to do with the 'live' wires needing to be swapped over on the back of the unit?? He will sort it after work because (unlike me) he knows what he is doing! Just in the mean time, can anyone confirm this?? style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="confused.gif" /> p.s. When plugged in however the headunit is pukka style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> - Sound quality is first rate and the touch screen is good too!
