ive only recently turned 19, renewed my insurance and because im with a farming insurance they know my dad and have gave me 3 years ncb, and its only cost me £480 xD

I think the theory behind ragging it every now and then is that it clears out most of the pipes from all the crap that's just been sitting there due to slow driving. I've done it in my Arosa a few times and it seemed to make a difference the nest time I drove it

Still haven't got this scraping / grinding noise sorted out but that's mainly me being too lazy :/ Well anyway, after all this snow business, Cumbria finally thought it would join in And a little video, not the best one though! (Don't know how to get videos of photobucket) http://s1151.beta.photobucket.com/user/gatesy0093/media/DSCF4507_zps0e189e68.mp4.html?sort=3&o=0

well im only 19 and have no sense what so ever, but your car is still technically insured one way or another so i say go for it

Thanks for the guide James, although I now think it isn't the brakes, as after driving they aren't near hot enough to suggest that they are sticking, plus this scraping/ knocking noise isn't constant :/ It only seems to happen when going right, and the sound varies depending on how fast you go so at the moment I'm assuming driveshaft? something like that, does this sound familiar to anyone? Cheers, Joe

finish my apprenticeship and this is top on the consideration list for finance

What's the easiest way to take the front left caliper off and give it a good clean down? The reason being is the inside brake pad is sticking (again) and I don't fancy paying for another set of discs and pads in the space of 4 months. Cheers guys

Thanks:) Trust me it's far from how I want it to be, but between work and winter I haven't had the time to go full out on it with my Christmas presents I haven't yet but i will get one when the weather is nicer

big bang from front driver side?
gatesy0093 replied to DannyParanoid's topic in Car Care, Maintenance and Mechanical
just drive around a bit tomorrow, go round some corners, if it scrapes while going round a certain direction it may be the brake calipers sticking. i know because mine did this today and i know exactly what it is because it did it a couple of months ago, and resulted in new pads and discs because i left it too long -
ive got a sportex box on mine, but trust me i'd shoot myself if i went to germany with that on. You'll be deaf before you get out of england

I vote somewhere in Cumbria, some Vw's / SEAT's and the nice scenery of the Lake District can't be beaten -
Well no they did, since I was working I gave them my dads number and told him to say yes to anything within reason haha. Owell, its been Christmas so that was my cars present! Hopefully it will return the favor with a good few more years
-
I would have done most things myself but i was at work when they were doing it so i didn't know what was going on haha

It had both rear shocks done, 2 brake line pipes replaced, some suspension bushes (can't remember which ones) and the alternator belt replaced.

-
Right. Time to bring this back to life haha. Not much has happened over the last few months other than buying a new set of front discs + pads Anyway, here's some pictures . Found a red Lupo outside McDonalds so a picture was obviously going to happen Went down south to see my uncle and on the way back came across this guy. Don't know who's it is, but it had DUB in the number plate The main excitement over the past few months was my new toy which i got for my birthday, Karcher pressure washer with the snow foam lance from autobrite Unfortunately I had to go somewhere so I couldn't get a full proper wash going on but I did get one picture And getting into the mood for Christmas, tinsel style That's all folks! No it's not frozen. I don't really know why it's been jamming? probably just needs a good clean or something because a spray over and internally with WD-40 always loosened it back to normal :/ its just since today that when I put the key in it will still turn, but it doesn't lock the door? or unlock it if it;s locked (From the inside and after crawling out through the passenger side lol)
-
Right the problem is that my driver side door lock has just suddenly stopped working :/ I can put the key in, but no matter which way I turn the key, it doesn't lock or unlock the door? Its been playing up a bit lately where the lock has been jamming but a bit of WD-40 always seemed to fix the problem. I washed my car this morning and ever since then it has been broken. Any help?
