  1. In all honesty, the "For Sale" section is getting so big, I'm actually tempted to get a proper 'Classified Advert' application rather than using forum posts. It gives far more control in terms of forcing people to put prices, location etc, and also allows potential buyers to narrow down by location, price and so on.
  2. I don't see why not - best for a subsection of Car Care/Maintenance I think....reluctant to create more "main" forums because the front page already looks fairly crowded...
  3. It is limited to 365 days and 200 results, which is a default setting. Searches, especially on a big DB like CL's, puts alot of strain on the server, which is currently groaning as it is To get around this, chose a date range - if you set the earliest search date as Feb 2010, then it'll search from 365 days before that, so until Feb 2009....(I think)
  4. Be careful, all that torque might cause the seats to rip from their subframes!!
  5. Bunch of girls VX220 is fine for everyday use, you just need to make a few compromises. I used an S1 Elise every day for 2 years and it was fine - granted I'd rather have been in something else when it was -5 outside, but otherwise it was consistently fun. If you don't do many miles, or have a 2nd car, definately look at the VX, they make alot of sense. I took the Exige on an advanced driving day, and went in a passenger ride for fast lap in a VXT, I was quite impressed. Nice slug of mid-range torque (compared to my VHPD anyway) easy enough to get in and out of and comfy enough. Roof off for the summer too!

    Jen!!

Not sure Jen swings by here any more - but spotted in Lichfield this afternoon, near Fradley park. Drove past you in the Exige, thought I recognised the plate, then recognised the driver
  7. If its felt to be useful, then its moved into that section by a Mod
  8. Alex, how are you finding the Twingo?
  9. Oh, if I must Terrible picture, I've not had the weather or the location for anything better...
  10. Not specifically, no, but the other port of call is: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/
  11. We ask that everyone who creates a post here using the following template, or at the very least includes this information: Make/Model: Colour: Post or Collection: Damage (if any) listed/explained: Pictures Contact Details PLEASE say if the car isn't complete in the first post (otherwise people will assume all parts are available) and make every effort to update when parts are sold. Posts which don't include the above risk having their thread deleted. Thanks!
  12. You seen Bethesda's offices? Nice place to work! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5zVawg-J-w
  13. Bad, bad idea.... Speaking as an old man, I made the mistake of spending my house deposit on an Elise when I was 22 (this was before the big housing boom). The result? My Elise lost £4k in two years, most houses gained about £20k, and then some! Financially, I'd have been in a much (much) better situation. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Fact is, if you spend that money on a depriciating asset, while houses are still rising, you'll be in an even WORSE situation in 12/24months time. Its incredibly boring, I know, and I'm a bit of a hypocrite as instead of spending my wodge on another house or paying off more of the mortgage, I blew it all on a shiny car also... On the plus side, owning your own place is pretty awesome, you'll wonder how you ever managed to get by living with your parents!
  14. They're worth too much as parts to ever drop below £1k. Even bumped ones, or ones with broken engines will fetch that much - wheels, aluminium panels, interior, dash...worth too much due to the rarity. Hell, if a broken 1.0 can fetch £500...
  15. That Silver visor is coming off, I don't like it either, being replaced. Darren, its certainly not a subtle car, as I found out when I pulled onto the petrol station - if they don't see it first they hear it. Currently looking at getting some better tyres, winter ones are hard to get hold of, so I might track down some all-season tyres, can get T1R's for £280.
  16. What a shit day to collect! I pick it up on the first day of the year we have snow! No driving impressions, as I drove home like a granny, A038's in the snow = twitchy. This car is about as subtle as a punch to the face, so it generated alot of attention when I pulled onto the forecourt for fuel....which was also a bad time to stall it. Plenty of (expensive) jobs on the to do list, and a few cheapo ones too. Shame the weathers crap for the next couple of weeks, I doubt it'll move much till it clears up. Its loud. And brash. Oh, and as long as the weather isn't TOO bad, I'll be bring it to the Midland Breakfast club in a couple of weeks if you're going Darren?
  17. Its got harnesses already. Anything other than maintenence will be spent on driver training and trackdays, certainly initially. Mods wise, I'd like to get some S1/S2 Exige Sports seats (to maintain the OEM look), get an Emerald/DVA remap (improved drivability, more power) and a set of Nitrons to replace what will now be fairly worn suspension. Problem is that each of those comes in at £1000-1500, so none of them will be done anytime soon! It'll be a second car, problem is that its currently on A048's, which are basically cut slicks. Great in the summer, when its dry, a little bit tricky in the wet winter (and downright dangerous with standing water). Might look at fitting some winter tyres...
  18. Slightly different silver ("Aluminium") but with Black wheels instead, how they should be... http://www.flickr.com/photos/12394349@N06/2230453317/in/photostream/
  19. It is Paul Matty's, been there before I take it? Its pretty standard, running the 192bhp spec as most are, unfortunately its only got the leather seats, rather than the Motorsport ones (as they're £1900 from Lotus) and the previous owner fitted a reversing camera, which is handy as rear visibility is poo. Its also got air-con, but the systems is heavy, and crap when it works (which isn't often). Most owners remove it. There was absolutely no good reason to buy an S1 over an S2, but mine was parked next to the S2 Exige they had in the showroom, and the S2 just dissapeared - the S1 just looks so right in terms of proportion, aggression and purpose that you can't help but overlook its lack of practicality. Love looking through the glass to see the engine ... even if it is just K-series Will be great to get back into RWD again - I managed to get insurance that covers trackdays, so that should be fun... Edit - the wheels on all Exiges are black, but the previous owner had them refurbed in Silver, looks better than I thought it would.
  20. Couldn't find a black one, they're very, very rare. Its "Quartz", which is basically silver. Not my first choice, but when these cars sell within a few days of going on sale, you can't be picky. Suppose I could always wrap it. Quick picture:
  21. Minor update... I bought an S1 Exige. I'll put some more info up when it arrives in a couple of weeks.
  22. Its worth paying the extra for one with the 06 revisions (LED lights, revised pedal box) plus I need a Sports Pack equipped one, or I'll be forking out for seats with harness holes and something to mount them on. This one: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2131416.htm Is probably a better bet. Newer, lower mileage, and has Sports Pack. Reckon I could get that for £20k. But then my thinking it, for £3.5k extra I'm getting WAY more with the white one??? I'm concerned over residuals for the N/A ones too, as I reckon they're going to take a tumble now the "S" models are getting close in terms of price. What car are you buying for the other half? Geometry settings are vital - you don't realise how far they're out until you get them adjusted, they slowly get worse so you don't notice! Remember getting my old Elise done and it felt like a totally different car!!
  23. Phoned about that car this morning, he'd just taken a deposit on it! I'm now looking at this one: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1978689.htm But it means taking out a bigger loan - spec is fantastic though, even has an LSD. Only downside seems to be a gap in the service history, nothing from its initial service 1100 miles, to its second service 2 years later on 21000 miles. In terms of your choices, went in a 996 once and didn't like it. Too muted, didn't feel very quick, horrible grey dash. Great all-rounders, but it didn't feel very exciting. I'd have to have an RS or GT model if it were a 996, to get that 'edge'. RS6's? They are STUPIDLY expensive to run. Have a look on Pistonheads on people blogs, absolutely massive bills, running into thousands...hence they're so cheap now! R32 is a good shout, hold their values reasonably as well. You might find both of them a bit dull after the RWD S2000, but sometimes you can just be glad of the comforts over winter!
  24. It was the un-supercharged version they tested. I'm going to have a look at this one this week: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2106637.htm The interior is....different, but the spec is good, with Nitrons, lightweight forged wheels, Sport pack, exhaust etc. Price is good too considering its a dealer car. I'm guessing people are put off by the interior, but I reckon I could sell that on. I'm just undecided about whether to really stretch the budget and get a supercharged one. Apparently the N/A is better on track, being lighter and doesn't suffer from heatsoak. Day to day, the Supercharged is better due to increased torque. On top of that, I'm still open to S1 Exiges...options options... As for your S2000, isn't that your second one? What are you considering changing to? If you find the Honda hard work around town, don't consider a Lotus
  25. EVO did an S1 vs S2 comparison a few years back when the S2's first came out - apparently the S2 is better in every way. But for me, the S1 has a certain raw charm, and I do prefer the "Mini GT Racer" looks. but I'm STILL struggling to locate one. I've just been offered a Blue S1, but its got no history between 2000 (when new) and 2004, when it was owned by Lotus and did 20k miles (he believes it was used by a Lotus director on trade plates??) its now on 30k miles in 2010. So 2/3rd's of its mileage is unaccounted for, and its up for £23k. I like the S2's, but I wouldn't want anything but a Supercharged one, and they don't start at less than £24k, which is a bit of a stretch for me.
