  1. Hi MrSupercrazy, l can supply the check straps as Koop has kindly mentioned, as above (thanks!) l can provide a guide on how to fit them as well if need be. Pricewise, they are £36.00 for a new pair with the little pinch bolt(s) that go through the hinge pin point upon the 'A' pillar. Price includes postage, for brand new, genuine VW parts. To order, please send over the desired amount along with your mailing address to my Paypal account as a 'gift' please, as it save on fees for us both. My Paypal account address is; dalespiers@hotmail.com Reagrds, Dale.
  2. If a vehicle does have a third brake light that's not working, then the car will fail an MOT if it's spotted by the tester. If there's no light fitted, then the car won't fail it's MOT, as any car cannot fail on, what it doesn't have fitted, well within reason anyway. This old rule of thumb mainly applies to classic cars, say pre 1970 etc (where seat belts and mirrors were optional extra's), but the gist still applies today l feel. l can ask one of my MOT testers for clarfication if need be. Thanks Silver, for the mention by the way. Yell0warosa has been in contact!
  3. Hi WightmanMk2, You could try a new pinch bolt, as the bolts are made of an alloy, which do wear so tightening the one you have will only wear it even more, lol. As the pins have a dual thread upon them. Is the check strap upon your Arosa still performing okay? As you may as well replace both if it's not. Let me know as and when. Or if you'd like to order one, as the straps l sell all come with the bolts, or l can sell just the bolt on it's own if you like. The payment details are as above. Thanks! Regards, Lupoboz.
  4. Hi Kev Tdi, l can assist. You can just buy some retro fit wiper blades that utilise the existing wiper arms. They are £24.00 from me for a pair. The ones l sell are genuine VW ones and are simple to fit and no tools are required. Let me know if you'd like to order a pair. Regards, Dale.
  5. In extreme cases the car can go into 'limp home mode' which is about 20mph ususally. I'd just do as Bash1990 (as above says) check the H.T. Leads, spark plugs and coil pack for signs of corrosion (coil pack) uneven running evidence (plugs) and the resistance (leads). Coil packs are now becoming more likely to be the culprits these days, as they are just getting to that age now. Regards, Dale (Lupoboz).
  6. On my classis car, both my rear alloys were doing this. Once the tyres were removed, l found the lacquered finsh upon the wheel lips was flaking off, as the wheels had beome 'pourous', where by air ingress was getting through the lacquer and causing a very slow puncture. l had both wheels refurbished (as new ones could no longer be obtained) by Spit & Polish, of Kent. Where they put a couple of extra layers of lacquer upon the rim lips and the problem has never returned and that was three years ago now. What sort of wheels does your Passat have, alloy or steel? l should imagin that they're alloys, lol. Regards, Dale.
  7. Hi Koop, l sell a mixed bag of each, as there are three types of clip, where two of the types makes up one clip. l should take photo's of these really, so that they are easy to identify. 5 of each clip are £6.00 (a total of 15 clips) 10 of each clip are £10.00 (a total of 30 clips) larger orders of clips can be fulfilled, depending on how many you require. Those prices do include VAT and postage. Regards, Dale.
  8. Hi ArosaCal, It sounds to me that a new check strap is required, as they do become tired, especially upon the drivers's side. A new check strap from me is £20.00 including the VAT and postage. Which are in stock and ready to post. l can include a fitting guide, if you fancy fitting it yourself. It's a 10 minute job for a competant mechanic. Let me know if you'd like to order one of these. Payment is made via Paypal, with payments being sent over as 'a gift' please to my account (as it saves on fees this way) to include your mailing address. The Paypal email address is; dalespiers@hotmail.com Regards, Dale.
  9. Hi Guys, l've just had a look on that ebay link, that Koop kindly put up. Although they are the wrong clips. as those are only listed for the Sharan, Alhambra & Galaxy models. The Lupo ones are a bit different to that, where they are slightly shorter and fatter. l suppose l could posta photo or two of what the correct ones look like. Let me know if so. These yellow Sharan ones may fit, although as they have a smaller surface area, they could work their loose? Let me know how you get on with the Koop, just out of interest. Regards, Lupoboz.
  10. Hi Luke, l can still get these clips. VW have put their prices up slightly as have the Post Office, since the last post on that thread you replied to about these clips. They are now £7.00 inc VAT and postage for a new set of four. If you'd like to order, please send over the desired amount along with your mailing address to my Paypal account as a 'gift' please, as it save on fees for us both! My Paypal account address is; dalespiers@hotmail.com Regards, Dale.
  11. Hi Jambro, Wheel alignment can be adjusted to rectify the problem, although if the track rod or track rod end has become bent as well. Either or both of those will need to be replaced as well, otherwise you'll be comepensating the amount of tyre tread on the road in order to re-gain correct wheel centre alignment. You can only check the state of the track rod, by removing the gaitor clips and sliding the rubber boot back. There's no grease issue to worry about here, so it's a simple job to check. Whilst you're there, it'd be a good idea to check for signs of moisture of power sterring fluid, as the pot hole may have damaged the end of the rack, which I hope for your dake has not happened, as it'll be a new rack otherwise. Also check the CV boot for splitting as well. Let me know how you get on, if more info is required. Regards, Dale.
  12. Hi James, I'm not familiar with people in the motor trade up your way. It might be worth trying further afield in your search. Regards, Dale.
  13. Hi Smileysara, I would say that you are experiencing over fuelling problems in the warmer weather. I'd replace the coolant temperature sensor, as this sensor has a number of fuctions. One of the main ones being, that it sends the water temperature to the engine ECU (the electrical brain) If this sensor is faulty, the sensor can send incorrect info to the ECU, resulting in problems of this nature. (i.e. over fuelling, rough running, poor idling etc) I take it that the fuel consumption has been somewhat high? I'd try a sensor first with a new sealing ring. Then if the problem persists ask your local garage to clean the throttle body out, or you can attempt this yourself, although it is a rather delecate job to carry out. I can go into further detail about this if you wish. Let me know if so, as it get's a bit technical lol. If you'd like to PM me with your Lupo's registration number, l'll see how much a new coolant temperature sensor is for you, as they do differ between the models. Regards, Dale. (Thanks Defcon5)
  14. Having a seat the doesn't go up and down, as easy entry seats do, is not an MOT failure. As long as the seat moves back and forth, then there's no cause for concern, according to one of my testers at work. I've got a feeling that the arm, as pictured, comes as part of the seat frame itself. Would you like me look into this for you. Let me know if so. Regards, Lupoboz.
  15. I'm pretty sure it is. PM me the chassis number and l'll double check for you. Thanks.
  16. Hi Jambro, Is the car running okay? Any rough running or misfiring? I suspect that the guys who worked upon your car have not set up the timing correctly, which is probably why the engine check warning light is coming on. They would have had to remove the crankshaft pulley to remove the lower cover and or water pump. There is a little woodruff key that sits upon the crankshaft lobe which as you know, guides the crank pulley onto the shaft, l suspect that the key has not been re-fitted correctly, resulting in the wobbly pulley that you saw. Although as you say, by drilling things out, they may have snapped a bolt off on the pulley, so maybe the wobbling was caused by not having enough pulley bolts to kepp the pulley on the shaft. As those pulley bolts are very easy to snap, especiall when using the incorrect tools! Those so called specialists may have to partially strip down what they've done, to make sure the timing hasn't jumped a tooth, as this can cause havoc, with warning lights coming on etc... This can be checked with a strobe light. Let us know how you get on with them if you like, if you decide to take the car back that is. They didn't have spurs upon the walls when you went in did they? Regards, Dale.
  17. Hi Curtis, The gear oil that you require has a VW part number of; G 060 726 A2 and will cost you £6.22 per bottle from your local VW agent. The filling quantity of your Arosa's gearbox is 2.7 litres, if you needed to know. Thanks Defcon5 for the heads up! Regards, Dale.
  18. Hi Shaunsprules, A new window winder handle form me is £12.00, which incorporates the part that you require. Let me know if you'd like to order a light grey or a black plastic one, which are the only two colour options to choose from. Payment can be sent via Paypal, being sent over as a 'gift' please (as it saves on either of us paying fees!) to my account where the address is; dalespiers@hotmail.com Regards, Dale. (P.S. Thanks Ell.s for the heads up!)
  19. Hi Douggie, I believe l have found the seat parts that you're looking for. If you to PM me with your email address, l'll get and send you a parts film picture of what l've found. Let me know as and when. Regards, Dale. (Lupoboz)
  20. Hi Megan, Welcome to the forum (and thanks James, for the recommendation) There are a couple of minor faults with your Lupo it seems, which can be quite easily rectified with a bit of outlay, lol. In answer to your list as above, the replies will correspond to your questions in each case. 1) The key just spins in the door barrel; What's happened is, is that the rotating arm and spring assembly, upon the back of the barrel/handle assembly have broken off. So that kit you bought from ebay might fix the problem, although these are pretty fiddly to replace. I now offer a solution whereby you would remove the handle from the car, post the handle to me with one of the keys and l'll repair the barrel assembly and re-grease the internals and post it back to you the same day for £15.00 which includes return postage. As there is a special tool in order to fit those repair kits, which the ebay sellers don't sell, lol. l would'nt advise on using my service if you've only got one key with your Lupo, just incase it should go missing in the post. 2) Locking Buttons; I take it that you're referring to the central locking 'lock & unlock' buttons upon the drivers door? If so, lift the the housing of where they are sat, (use two small flat bladed screwdrivers or similar) You'll see various wires underneath which connect the switches to the door loom. Check for signs of corrosion, water ingress (white powdery residue) or heat damage (melting). Disconect the switches from the loom to do this of necessary. Whilst they're out, go to operate the switch whilst listening for a little click whilst doing so. If there's no audible click, then a new switch will be required. Let me know if you'd like a price on one of these. If the switches do click, replace the loom back onto the switches and check for correct operation. If still no joy, then look for broken wires, where the loom protrudes through the door (between the door shut and the 'A' pillar) 3&4) As James quite rightly pointed out. The switch that controls the useage of the interior light has failed, which is a common fault, when the car reaches a certain age. These switches are an integral part of the door lock assembly. (bolted to the door half way down on the leading edge) which only come pre-assembled with a new door lock. A second hand one may be obtained, although it could develop the same symptoms after a while. as the drivers door lock gets the most use. In order to find the correct second hand one, or a new one from me. I'd need to know what the chassis or VIN number is. This number can be found upon the windscreen, outer, bottom left hand corner, upon an MOT certificate, service book etc. By giving me the info, it'll save some time on ruling out buying incorrect door locks that won't work with your car, as there are many different ones, which nearly all look the same at a glance, lol. I can give you the part number of the correct one, when I know what the chassis/VIN number is. Let me know how you get on with sorting out these faults. Or you could take the car to your local VW dealership where they can sort it all out for you. Although having a go yourself can be fun, rewarding and money saving all at the same time, lol. PM me with that chassis/VIN number if you like. It'll read something like this; WVWZZZ6XZ..... (17 digits long in total) Regards, Dale.
  21. Nice cake bud. Not to mention your GTi. Many Happy returns of the day for last week! All the best, Regards, Dale.
  22. I have one in stock, ready and waiting for you. Regards, Dale.
  23. Hi sd_xo, Are you looking for the complete door lock assembly for the passengers' side. If so, PM me with the chassis number of your Lupo and l'll get some prices together for you. Regards, Dale.
  24. Hi George, Sorry to hear that you're a little disgruntled. l believe l replied to a PM to you about this on the 4th of March, although l cannot seem to find it now. So to re-itterate, here's the prices for you. GTi Honeycombe Grille £43.00 VW Roundel Badge £19.00 Plinth £10.00 GTi Badge £13.00 Let me know if you're still looking for any of the above parts. I'll send you another PM about this as well. Just in case! Regards, Dale.
  25. Perhaps a feedback section to do with the traders section might be a good idea. As a few club members have asked me about this recently. Where traders can be rated by feedback from club members, whether just asking for advice or purchasing parts. Just an idea. What do you think guys and girls? Regards, Dale.
