Alexlaffey
Right guys. My lupo gti has just failed its mot and one of the problems was one of the front shock absorbers is cattle trucked. My mechanic said it will need a new coilover on it including the spring etc. Here is the problem though, whoever had the car before me has it on after market coilovers and my mechanic is unsure of what kind they are. I assume i will need to buy two new coil overs to fix this problem as the front two will have to match. Can anyone recommend a cheap set of coil overs?or am i wrong and will i just need the one? or can anyone think of a better solution to this problem? i have contacted the lad i bought the car off and he cant remember what kind of coilovers they are. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks !!

Damian@DPM
If you can get a picture of them we may be able to tell which kit it is.Failing that we have the JOM kit available for £185.00 inc. Stubrown
Alright lads, I have bought the car in the above message from my good friend alexlaffey. He sold it to me a while ago. We haven't been able to sort out anything with the suspension and time is getting on. As mentioned above Alex said that his mechanic doesn't know which coil overs are on the car. All because the car is too low to get on the ramps to check. The mechanic and I have been talking and he mentioned or is preaching that he wants me to put the standard suspension back on the car. So here is what I'm asking. First what do you guys think? Could anybody point me in the right direction to acquire standard "Shock absorber with the spring and the top mountingNo hubs required" I would appreciate any help you's could give and a little crack about the car and stuff would be great. Thanks a lot! Stu
Defcon5
You would regret putting standard suspension on, it's not the best. What don't you just raise the coilovers?
Stubrown
How come I will regret the change so much??Im putting the standards on as i need it to pass it's MOT then I can have a play with it after. Maybe I will put new coil overs on it after the transfer is all sorted. I think the car is way to low to make any major adjustments on it. Its currently I a garage ATM and I can't get to it. It's all a bit of a dick on ATM like.
Stubrown
I've just bought second hand standard springs and shocks, £100 for front and back. What do you's think??
Defcon5
How come I will regret the change so much??The standard suspension is so high getting into the car is like getting on a horse. It's too soft with a lot of travel, so really pronounced body rollI'm sure they used to go for about £50, but maybe there aren't many sets about at the minute Edited December 12, 2013 by Defcon5
LisaGTi
I have standard suspension on my GTi. Even my Arosa was lower than my GTi. Get new coilovers. Coilovers from JOM are awesome if you only want the budget ones, but if you are going to play with it after you might as well spend more on the coilovers and get midrange ones. I've found decent sets for around £400. Edited December 12, 2013 by LisaGTi
