Better than the alternative.

had a similar issue when I bought my SDI. Best way to relax is get it changed.

Yeah just hanging onto to the idea that its been done as in 5 days its ramped up a hefty bill and parts list, lower front nearside wish bone and cv boots are balding the tyre way beyond legal limit to can't even drive it till Sunday when a mate is fitting the parts

Have you phoned your VW dealership? I know it's unlikely it was last done at a main dealer give the age but you never know. In the service book I think it's called a "toothed belt", I'm guessing you've checked there?

Yeah there were some invoices for work at VW Stafford so I called them and they only had records of services that matched up to the papers in front of me, called another garage that had repaired one the under seals and they said they had no record of work on the car, no wonder when it's rotten again and looks like they smoothed down a tonne of filler with a 50 pence piece!
