Adamlarge
Hi I recently bought a lupo 1.4 16v for my first car and it has come with a few upgrades one of them being a full powerflow system which is pretty much straight through with only one silencer half way down and no back box, personally I find it too loud for my liking plus without a cat it won't pass it's mot, I'm looking or some advice on what I should do about it I pho ed up my local powerflow specialist being longlife in Stockport and they have me a 'rough' quote without seeing the car at £250-300 to fit a cat and I can't afford to spend that amount of money so my thoughts are to either buy a cat myself and chop a section out of te system and sleeve the cat in and possibly for a back box aswell, buy or swap my system for another with a cat attached already, or just buy a stock exhaust for it, but I like te sound of it it would just be nice if it was a fair bit quieter, more of a progressive rumbling sound than a full on roar which it is at the minute,If anybody has any opinions on what I should do or give me another reasonable option it would be much appreciated, and the only people I have asked that I know don't want me to do anything because I will lose power but that doesn't bother me it's my first car and powerful enough for that already
Defcon5
Do a straight swap with someone for a standard system, and they pay for fitting?
Adamlarge
i dont know i was told the powerflow system costed £800, if thats the case it would be more valuable than the standard exhaust and as i said i like the sound id just like it queter, id swap it for another system with catback with sombody thats after decat but id just buy a standard exhaust and i can fit it myself, im a panel beater myself but i know a fair bit about mechanics just not in detail but changing an exhaust is not problem for me, im struggling to figure out what cat i will need if i was to fit it myslef though with there being a few variations
Thissy
A powerflow system would be nowhere near £800. In all honestly £300 is much more realistic.Mike
Tsd
Buy a cheap second hand standard exhaust, someone is selling one on club lupo on Facebook for £
Adamlarge
I've been quoted £250-300 to just to have a cat fitted to it so I'm sure it's worth more than £300, an thanks il have a look on there
ryanlupot
any power flow dealer will build you a system for 250-400 depending what you are after. I imagine your quote includes a cat which in itself is an expensive item. get the right cat for your car and buy a catback for it.problem solved. Adamlarge
i got the car for £550 with a bit of front end damage, i work in a bodyshop so thats all sorted wasnt cat c so he didnt rip me off i think he just wasnt sure, im just trying to get it through the mot, il speak to the place ive been quoted from about a full catback system if not try and find a cat for it myself, as i said im not that sure about aftermarket parts atm im just starting driving and this is my first car so im still learning the ropes a bit haha
Adamlarge
i could get it through the mot as it is but id rather not, the fact its my first car is the main reason i need to make it queiter because il be pulled over 5 times more than i already will be as a young driver if i leave it really loud, its too much attention on myself plus i dont think my neighbours will be very happy when im coming down the road late at night haha
