Dillanm
Hey guys, first post so here goesI'm essentially gonna be passed my driving test within the month or so, and I'm looking to get a 1.0 Lupo as my first car as they're relatively cheap to buy and insure.I'm just looking for some advice as the main qualms my parents have is that a 1 litre will have almost no guts about it and that most of them have generally high mileage. Can anyone give me some advice on this? I.e. does it have some guts (not looking to race, just don't want to be straining the engine) and what's a good mileage to buy it at?Cheers,DillanEDIT: forgot to mention that they're awesome looking little cars too! chippi218
less miles the better really bro?when i was looking i didn't want to buy one with more than 70k just as when i go to sell it it will still have a milage people would still want to buy it at.power is ok in a 1l it doesn't put you back in your seat if you know what i mean17.7 second 0-60mph it is road tested at. but I'm sure thats with 4 people in iti can do it in like 10-12 seconds with just memost hill's will go up in 4th gear so with just me or 3rd gear with 1 or 2 passengersas it is a small engine it doesn't like to much weight being pulled i think its plenty fast enough to loose your licence anyway bro..and no one wants to loose there licence when they have only just got itITS EASIER TO LOOSE YOUR LICENCE THAN TO GET A LICENCE!!!! Defcon5
Never driven a 1.0, but im sure it will do you just fine. I used to have a 1.1 106, that was fine (and rather fun actually)
georgen
had a 1.0L and got a 1.4, 1.0L is fine, no weight in car, yeah your not going to win any races but are a fun car to drive and in my opinion the perfect first car, and the coolest looking for the money. Thealex
Just make sure it gets enough air.I bought a airduct that I routet from the filter and down the the front bumper.went from 0.8litres per 10km to 0.6.And it's more nippy at lower revs(not alot tho, but a bit)

Silver!
I had a 1.0MPi Arosa for a few years and it's a very competent little car.Respect that it's a1.0 and it'll do everything you need it too.We took ours all over Scotland fully loaded with camping kit for 2 adults and a rather large dog. It coped very well. From sea level...Whitesands Bay, June 2009 by Ray Crabb, on Flickr...to the highest public road in Britain...50bhp, fully loaded at 670m by Ray Crabb, on FlickrIt also works well on the motorway as we used it regularly to shoot through to Glasgow and Edinburgh from Perth. MPG isn't best when on the motorway, but the rev's don't sit much different to a GTI so you are in good company. For all the fun that my GTI is, I still miss my little 1.0.If my daughter were to show an interest in one as a first car I would be more than happy. tom3112
I tend to stay at 50/60 on the mways and can easy get good mpg. Speed doesn't bother me
Cannonball
If your straining an engine your driving it wrong ! That also reads like your worries over driving a 1.0l not your parents.
Thealex
25% extra mpg from a cold air feed? Dont talk rubbishThis is acutally true. But my airfilter is at a place where it only drew hot air. And probably not enough air. The piping gave it more and cold air!
