wheel/offset dilemma

Hello,

I am new to this forum and would like to say Hi and ask for some

technical advice :

I am about to purchase a set of cheap as-new 6x14 Peugeot alloys

that I intend to fit, with custom-made adaptor-plates, on my Lupo 1.0 "project car"

('99 model year).

The wheels are 6x14 ET18, meaning that, with the 18mm thick adapters,

the wheels will become 6x14 ET 0 (zero). Before I part with the cash

(as there will be an additional investment in the 4x108 > 4x100 adapters)

can any of you confirm whether 6x14 with ET0 is drivable/fittable to a Lupo ?

(if necessary I could probably use stretch - 165/60-14 or similar, and some

minor amount of camber would be acceptable but NOT much (sort of a "weekend"

daily driver).

Ride-height will be -50 to -55mm all round (most probably with a skid-plate...)

Thanks HEAPS for any suggestions !

Cheers

Alex

thanks - the point is that I want that design so much on the Lupo

(and the price for the set is silly, although lot of cash will go in the adaptors).

anyway, maybe someone has hands-on experience with spaced-out 6x14s

and will shed some "light" ?

Actually 6x14 ET0 should be same as 7x14 ET13 (in terms of "poke" / wheelarch

clearance), right ?

Cheers & thx 10x

Sounds about right

i personally think that they will look ridiculous, thin wheels which poke never look good IMO

Sounds about right ;)

OK, so from your replies it seems the final word is that

they CAN be fitted, but with the following cons:

- arch pulling

- aesthetics

Anything else ? Now I'm even more confused...

Btw.any ideas how much wider are the GTI front

fenders compared to stock ones ?

I was also thinking -- If one fits GTIfront fenders (while keeping

the narrow-track stock 1.0 suspension), actually much more space

can be obtained at the front.... correct ?

Whereas at the rear, 6x14 ET 0 should not be THAT of an issue,

although the aesthetics might be compromised a bit that's true

(although it's again VERY different if one rolls on stretched 155/60-14

or 195/45-14  ).

I will go for it I guess.... wish me luck.

P.S. Anyway, has anyone actually tried GTI front fenders on a normal Lupo ? :ninja:

I made some calculations, and the Lupo GTI front track

seems to be 34mm wider than the Lupo 1.0. \

This probably means that GTI front wheelarches have

AT LEAST 15mm more "arch", meaning that very-high-offset

wheels on the front of a Lupo 1.0 might be solved with fiiting

a GTI front wings, without mechanical arch-pulling and/or

excessive neg. camber.

Time to talk to the breakers...

The entire front end is different on the GTI, you'd need to replace every panel forward of the windscreen (except the bonnet)

just put your existing sizes etc in then you can play with sizes and ET (wheel offsets) and you can see the difference and scroll down for the measurements and difference. you dont have to know a working combo just play it tells you difference then you can work out where it would be off your exiting wheels, just takes the guess work out.

Seems alot of work and expense for something that tbh is not going to look that good, Probably a bit like the drag civics that had wide fronts on and tiny thin rears on.
