I know.

My 54k (ish) GTI in 10'000 miles.

Cam Belt Tensioner failure. No damage.

Gearbox failure. Long time VOR, expensive on a full rebuild.

Warped brake disc following a trip down the snake pass twice on an empty road.

Fan belt.

Pretty poor, but I still love the car.

Must be a Polo/Lupo Gti thing!

My mates Polo 6n2 Gti timing belt went at 56k, bent valves etc

And its on its 3rd gearbox rebuild at 70k.

lol it makes me laugh the amount of posts I see on the Polo forums about repeat gearboxes.

The new VW Bearing kit is vastly improved.

Id be happy if I only have to spend £500 on a rebuild every 40k miles.

Its worth it for that sort of mileage.

Part of the problem is they don't resolve the issues. They just give you a new one that you and Volkswagen both know will fail again some point down the line. You just don't know if it will be 40k or 80k
