Tigz™
It that possable on mine Clifford or would I need to fit Gti panels?
Blackrat
the guy who did my bonnet would do that to your arches, but wouldnt be able to do the bumper.
Dogwood
Mines on KW V2's. Started off with a 55mm drop and have gradually come back to about 40mm all round and the shaft still just touches when i'm killing it. Thing is the spring rates are way too hard, but if I soften them off it will just make things worse cos it will roll more. That's why I want bigger anti roll bars. But, the standard bar is 22mm dia and the Eibach and H&R bars are only 21mm. Bloke at H&R says basically they ****ed up. Cheers. Anybody heard of and other uprated bars, or does the front bar of anything else fit eg. Ibiza Cupra??
Altern8
Spoke to eibach and the front one was 25mm but they didnt make a rear one beacuse it was good enough apprently style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />do you need a front one before you can lower the car loads then apprently it catches on it
Altern8
is that pic above a gti ?
Tigz™
no its not.If you can see it has tinted headlamps, and a three bar grill. And if you look where the bumper joins, it looks like non GTi panels.Looks great doesnt it?
Altern8
sure does style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> looks like they have been flared rather then extended
Tigz™
Ive been talking to someone toda about it.the front will come out great, the rearwill never be round, but the lip of the squared arch could be removed.I think Im gonna go for it 8)
mdubgti
i just got a qoute back from a guy that was going to air'bag my 76'dub. he quoted me for a two pump juice system running 24volts, fitted and tested would be £2000 for a lupo gti. how low do you think you could go on hydrualics? twisty b-road
Damn, and there was me thinking coilovers were costlyDo airbags sort the handling out like a set of coilys?
Altern8
na airbags are just for high the ride aint as good i recon you will still have the same problem wil air bags and the drive shafts hitting its just another way of lowering the car aint it style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
mdubgti
nono for 2k u dont get air bags you get juice, hydrualic rams.apparently they offer the best ride your car can produce?
Tigz™
Ride maybe. But Im not convinced the handleing will be improved. Its a bit too American for me, knowing how a truck drives on 'bags Id be too worried of the bouncy ride.. Snoopy
If it's hydraulic, as suggested, it's not using air, but a liquid (probably oil).Liquid compression rates are so small as to be insignificant - I think you could get a pretty good handling car using hydraulics. twisty b-road
The adjustable height would be useful, is height controllable from in the car or is that (even) more?
Snoopy
Usually `in-car` control is standard, `key-fob` control is extra style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
mdubgti
each ram is independent and you can raise frrom `6-8`" and also have the car SLAMMED when parked
DanGTI
maybe others dont see it like this but isnt just throwing your car into somewhere, handing over £2k, get your car back drive along at a normal height then just dropping it when cruising along or parked cheating? it kind of misses the point for me. Tigz™
That does sound fantastic doesnt it.Having the advantages of a mildly lowered car. But able to drop the car to show hieght at the flick of a switch! But £2000!Emma would kill me! lol
mdubgti
yeah it sounds nice and the reason your paying 2k is to get it all fitted, and this guy does nice installs. i believe the kit to be 1300 to buy seperatly if you want to take on the challenge. to be honest i dont quite think i can make the time to do it. style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Tigz™
£1300!Now that is a little better!OK Techie guys, whats involved in fitting a kit like this?I remember from the countless years of watching scrap heap challage, that working with hydraulics is a major task!
Snoopy
It's a lot less of a major task if all the bits are designed to work with each other! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />Still a big job though.
