Poobah
Got coilovers which are set reasonably low and made no mods, only thing to watch is the drive shaft clearance and angle. I'd say lower it 50mm then lower it about 5 - 10mm at a time until you find a useable level thats low enough for ya. C
mdubgti
90mm style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Tigz™
At 90mm on 15s the O/S driveshaft would be sticking through the bodywork. There is a way to get around it. But I have been to 4 garages incudeing my own, but no one will do the work thats needed.
Altern8
i will be runnin wide 15s with 195/45/15 what needs to be done to the drive shaft ?

Red Lup Gti
It can be done!!i just think that no garage would want to put there name to it because it is structual!!Go on Altern8 be the first ! style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />
Tigz™
I found someone to weld it.. and someone to cut it.But none of them ill do both jobs.I think its that if something goes wrong they can always blame the other.I will find someone though! chris260
How low can you go before you start to get problems? I just got my coilovers but haven't fitted them yet. I'll be running 15's as well with 195/45's .
Tigz™
55mm at the front and as low as you'd like at the rear without any problems. You still may get the odd knock from the drive shaft over large bumps but nothing too serious.
chris260
That's probably enough for me as it gets used everday, cheers!
Poobah
To be fair Tigz l say l've got mine lower than 55mm at the front and l had my MOT last week, no rubbing and all was well. How far you think mines dropped those of you that have seen it?C
twisty b-road
I reckon it's 85 at the back and 55 to 65 at the front
Tigz™
Id say the same.I think the front end is around `55-60mm`
Poobah
Yeah true, l initally set it to 50mm then dropped it a further 15mm from there but its since settled another 5mm l'd say. Seems to be getting lower week by week!! Slightly worrying!!C
Tigz™
Any lower Chris and it'll be in Australia...I'll be hideing in the corner if anyone wants me
Poobah
mm possibly!! Seriously though l'd say mine is at the limit that you can take it without fooking your drive shafts right up! Its probably around 60mm +/- 10% at the front. Its weird though cause some people l've spoken to with coilovers on Gti's have experienced rubbing at like 45mm. Seems really dependant on the individual vehicle? Odd!!!C
Altern8
so the most is about 60mm on the front im gona have to investigate some more style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> if the germans can do it im sure we can style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> just gota save for my coilies first style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> how much needs to be cut and its it from both side or just the one side ?
Tigz™
Just the one side mate. The gearbox is to one side, so it is only the O/S that catches the bodywork.
