Red Flashing Temp icon on dash - gti

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just a quicky. Does anyone know what I need to do if my water temperature icon starting flashing (behind the rev counter)? It started halfway to work this morning, I don't have the manual with me and have to drive the car home. The temp gauge itself hasn't moved from dead centre, so I don't know whether to be worried or not!

I'm going to check the water level tonight when I get home, just to be on the safe side.

Any help, greatly appreciated!

Pretty sure thats your coolant level guage. Check the level. If the levels fine, then you may need a new level sensor.

this happened on the SDI this wkend.

I've heard it could be waterpump issues? can anyone shed anymore light on the problem and is it safe to drive? assuming all levels are fine.

Please help

It might not be a problem though. Mine came on in my TDI when I came off the motorway after a sustained period of errr... high speed. I topped it up and its been fine since so I assume that the water pump started to leak after doing 30 mins at 3800+ revs.
