NOCK
how much does a mechanic get paid?i would have thought that you would hit a glass ceiling at some point when it comes to levels of pay. does this not worry you?My mate is a mechanic, owns his own business, owns a 250-300K house as well as his business, a Mitsubishi Evo VII as his daily driver and has just bought his mrs an Audi TT 3.2 Quattro, whilst bringing up a kid also. I think that he has made a fair whack as a mechanic and will be even richer when he sells up.Every job has perceived limits, but most can be scewed depending on desire and ability. (wow that is really philosophical for me!)If D_eano wants to be a mechanic don't knock him for it, I think it's a pretty good job in terms of his life-span as people are always gonna need stuff fixing, unlike many other jobs. What do you do for a living, if you don't mind me asking, Adam?NOCK Edited June 7, 2007 by NOCK

Arun
my advice would be-stick to main dealers- easier jobs, tech support, generally higher pay and more up to date working environment (but theres a lot more paperwork, technicalities, dos and donts etc)keep up to date with your evidence, im waaaaay behind and its just plain depressingdont rely on remit/carter and carter for ****. theyre crap. you really have to push them to get anything doneand as for working till a ripe old age- im not gonna be on the tools after 35. i want to get qualified, then work up and out the workshop asap (plan is get as many qualifications as i can outta Ford then go after my teachers job). either that or become master tech. as with any job, the most qualified bloke gets paid the most and only has to do half the work of everybody else.
