loddrik
Why do people prefer the narrower tyres?
Philplop
To give more arch clearance. The 205/40's will be wider, and have a slightly taller sidewall, so there is more chance of the tyres scrubbing on the arches.
loddrik
but less grip surely?
Joe
not a noticeable amount no. its only 1cm in width smaller. I'd rather go for 195/40 purely for the fact the sidewall with be smaller meaning they look much better imo.DickyP/Saz have 195/40R16 on their BBS wheels on a GTi and they look spot on.
