Teflon
is it drive-by-wire?? it could be a problem with the trottle body
dean
i have the same problem don't know what to do about it think its really dangerous as the steering goes stiff and can't turn
J9 XXX
what do you mean by a drive by wire????yeah my steering does exactly the same it goes all still and will not turn!!!
MrBiscuit
what do you mean by a drive by wire????Drive by wire, means there is no physical throttle cable attached to the accelerator pedal, instead the pedal position is measured by two sensors, and its position is sent to the ECU, which in turn sends signals accordingly to the injectors/carburettor to send the correct amount of fuel into the engine. To test for drive by wire, throttle up to 2k revs in neutral, hold there, and brake using left foot.Revs should drop to 1k or below. J9 XXX
a few peoplehave said the throttle bodies to me now must have a look! VAG?cheers
Cliveski
Yeah - I reckon it's the throttle body too - it always seems to play up when the air gets moist/damp.You can clean it 'in situ' - just remove the airbox and have a friend rev the engine while you spray the throttle body with carb cleaner. one-phat-lupo
Throttle body sensor or lambda sensor had the same prob with my old polo
Gavs_arosa16v
I took my throttle body off and cleaned it with carb cleaner. You will be amazed how dirty it gets, form a build up oil from the breather. Its reasonably easy to get off as well: air box(takes the longest to get off), 4 allen keys, unclip cable and its off. nfbr
i know someone had this problem a while back, and it turned out to be the brakelight switch. cant quite remember how that linked in... but i'm pretty sure that cured it in the end... LoopyLing
We had this on the green one a few months back, the dealer said it was injection related and cleanable.
gemsy
mine does something simular to this, but it only does it when the roads have a lot of water on or when its raining heavy. does it lose power when you are diving too? mine is fine when its not wet, i checked on a fault finder and mine said something about speed signal plausability? i dont know what this means, any one any ideas? realy need to get it fixed for the winter! Jake-VW
Mine did this too the other day, took it to my mate who works at a garage. He said its most likely to be lambda probe, temp sender or throttle valve. We plugged it in, and 5 faults came up. Not sure on them all, but throttle valve was there. They wiped all the codes and I haven't had a problem since, which is strange. I'm just waiting for it to happen again.
