  1. Yes a great feature on a small car. I think you're right six of us in total, me being the first, in 2006. Not an option VAG group ever had in mind for us to add, hence no wiring to the bulkhead. If only I could get the airbag off, I'd have fitted the stalk I bought. The idea came to mind after some research, & finding both VW polo & A2 with the same engine, having cruise as an option, I thought it must be possible. I did a lot of testing measuring the input impedance of the ECU inputs, and making sure no damage would become of making the switch input voltages, to pins that may or may not be cruise functional, before I went ahead. Not heard of a 1.4 16V petrol yet to be retro fitted, but I bet it might be possible, especially if there is a clutch switch, & drive by wire. Enjoy your CC, fellow cruisers.. MrB
  2. Yep the terminals are numbered, you need to pull out both connector banks, as I think 14 is on one and the rest on the other. There are plenty of unused pins as all are fitted, so some spare for trial removal. You'll need to find a 12v ignition feed from somewhere in the car too. I used the radio switched 12v, others have used the brake switch 12V. take your time, be gentle with the ECU connector, but it can be stiff to get off. Jons guide is excellent, study that first. Wish you luck, specially with the airbag, gave up on mine, two screws just turned without undoing, got a refund on the stalk, and kept my two toggle switches.
  3. not sure if the PM thang panned out for me as I'm a lowly poster... any ways.. ref scanguage... Hi Tom yes pretty much all of those features are there, & you can add others by programming in commands, I have turbo boost added & instant BHP, though this seems never to get to 70. bought mine from fleabay there's a few on at the moment. scanguage search though I got mine for around the £100 mark. go for the scanguage II certainly helps with fuel economy, & shows you when you are spanking it. can get it down to low teens with a thrashing. you can pop out the ODB port behind the ash tray & do a tidy install if you do a search on club lupo, Jon (TDI Loop) has done a very nice install with his. takes a bit of faffing to get the settings right, but once done as I said its pretty accurate. hope this helps cheers Phil
  4. nah no remap, maybe one day when ive changed the clutch and timing belt..2nd time around. I've got a scanguage, like an OEM trip computer, gives instant, trip, mpg amongst other things. plugs into diag port. warm weather helps MPG & now on 105K miles. some granny driving mind, below 2k revs is the trick .. no turbo action. plus some coasting in neutral down some hills, and some others in gear.. as appropriate I get to perfect this 5 times a week, its a commuting amusement. set cruise control, & admire the view.. only 80.7 mpg today got 85 yesterday. 27 dec C in sunny Devon. the warmer the less time on cold fuel map. real tank calcs confirm scanguage to +or- 3% eg fueling errors
  5. get 250 to the first quarter. 350 to halfway. 620 to near empty. 82mpg to work & back today. 70mpg last tank average. Plus TDI power when needed or for just pure pleasure.. magic button action though..
  6. Got 620 miles today. Thats my best so far. And with the magic button I got nearly 41ltrs in , about 9 gallons 68.8 mpg. Mixed driving, some town, some spirited to give some turbo exercise, but mainly 40 mile calm work commute cruises. Peak MPG over 80 on some trips according to the Scanguage. Worst MPG 43 on a 'need to get there now' run. Stay below 2k revs is the key, plus some coasting down hills in neutral or in gear where appropriate. Reckon 660 is achievable. Though theres a can O diesel in the back for the last 30 miles, needle on red! 6.6p/mile bargain driving.
  7. A quick search turned up this http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44564 possible N75 valve boost control. £60 Or stuck gunked turbo vanes.
  8. I took my 12v feed from the ignition on 12v to the stereo. But thats becouse it had already been spliced for my hands free car kit & my switches are in a spare switch blank on the lower centre console. Stalk will be coming soon.
  9. great news. well done. Pressing set when in cruise should decelerate & hold new speed. holding resume when in cruise should accelerate & then hold new speed. when braking, for say a roundabout or bend, it cancels cruise, but pressing resume later, should accelerate gently back to previous set point. Just to clarify the cruise stalk kit part number is 7D0 - 998 - 527 £65 ? is that right.? Phil
  10. Got your PM Gazza Reckon Jon is right, maybe the black wire needs to connect to 12v & ECU 14. Before doing this though Jons idea of metering the switches on the stalk is a good one. ( to be on the safe side) Check that white blue & red short to black each in turn when the relevant switch is closed. The fact that there is no 12v is why reading block 22 shows nothing. reckon your nearly there. Phil
  11. Nice work guys. Great guide Jon, those pics are pretty much exactly how I did mine. I'm wanting that cruise stalk, good work gazza / cardaft finding that compatible stalk. To enable cruise is really simple once you've got vag com, it can be done with the trial version I think. From Ross tech Enable cruise Activating Cruise Control on a new ECU (DBW): Factory fresh ECU's often come with cruise control de-activated. If this is the case, there will not be a letter "G" in the Component field of VAG-COM when connected to the Engine. [select] [01 - Engine] [Login - 11] Enter 11463 to activate cruise control [Do It!] After doing this procedure, there should be a letter "G" in the Component field. Switch connections & cruise can be tested by reading some measuring blocks, as per my previous posts. Anything I can help with let me know. Phil
  12. Running a 2/3rds Bio 1/3rd mineral diesel at the moment on a trial. Not much difference when the engine is warm performance wise. Starting seems a little bit reluctant, sometimes takes a couple of goes if i forget. Glow plugs seem to energise for less time on a cold start? If I go for two glow cycles , then no problem. A bit slow until engine is warm. It looks a lot more viscous than ordinary diesel. Can get it for 70p a litre here though (Exeter). Company making it , Linky , say it meets EN 14214, & have it tested every month. Some later VAG user manuals say BioDiesel is a No No. Anyone know what the position is? Gonna keep a check on the MPG, as Bio is supposed to have a lower calorific value so may reduce MPG. Though on the other hand lubricates the engine better & keeps it cleaner.
  13. Do the hazard warning lights work? If not its a blown fuse, that also stops the remote lock/unlock flash of indicators. common fault.
