not from experience, but from expeience from cams into cars in general for na tuning. would expect about 10bhp or so, or is this too high a guess?

99% sure thats been provren incorect on RR sessions with a few guys from here having cams and the gain was no where near that.

My sport will give a polo gti a good run for its money so you should be able to beat it no hassel!

off the top of my head my answer to that is no they never but the guy did say he was willing to sped but not to much now if your talking cams, headwork, standalone ecu and mapping your already at over 1k+ and even then woukldnt see a huge inscrease in power.

Any majorty of people dont go for a full map just for cams.

Ross had had his head worked, cams full system including decat, BMC and remap and was hitting 150bhp.

But as Paddy says, your talking 600 just for the cams alone, is it really worth the outlay?

TBs seems the obvious choice, but again, with stand alone, your talking £3k.

As I said earier, if hes getting beaten by a Polo GTI, Id spend the cash on advaced driving leasons rather than engine upgrades, the Polo is over 100kg heavier than the Lupo.

well no wonder there are some reports of not good gains if they havent even been setup for the engine, the tuning could be all messed up.

i would expect at least 10bhp gain perhaps 15 if it was well mapped up. it doesnt have to mean a standalone ecu can get good piggyback ecu for about £400ish inc fitting and remap to make use of anymodification to the engine running. schrick cams are £450 inc vat and delivery.

depends what you call too much money. £10,000-£15,000 is too much money, which is what a full power spec NA engine costs on average in motorsport, using an factory engine as base.

if he is not letting you look under the bonnet then you cant presume his is standard engine.

First of all what times were both cars getting on the 1/4?

et and terminal speed?

and both cars are (claimed) standard?

Will soon tell you where the problem is.

oh and what year was the polo? early 2000 models are faster.

just found out he has custom induction kit and he says it is super chipped!

0-60 got 7.67s

1/4 mile got 15.10

If it's doing a 15.10 1/4 then it's got more than an induction kit and chip. I'd look fora bottle in his boot!

Plus the 0-60 isn't very good for that sort of 1/4 mile time. which may indicate lack of traction.

best way is to get schrick cams imo.

also type his reg into the dvla database just to check it hasnt had a bigger engine put in.

most the cars i know which have had engine conversions - the DVLA do not know...

I'm still banking on the gas. easy to hide and the car is going at least a second quicker than a standard polo gti. most polo gti's I've seen do closer to 17 seconds. a remap and induction kit is not going to gain you a second in a NA 125bhp polo.
