James_VW
I'm looking for a new thermostat housing for the GTI I take it they are different to standard lupo's due to the oil cooler Are there any aftermarket ones available? Are polo 6n2 GTI ones same?
Rich
they're different for some reason, lupo specific. why replace?
lupogtiboy
The whole housing is 032 121 111 AT - £119.47 inc vat from VW, this comes as the complete unit that bolts on the cylinder head with all sensors and the thermostat. You can buy the thermostat and the flange (snigger!) separately from VW, they are Thermostat - 032 121 110 C £19.74 inc vat Seal - 032 121 119 H - £5.26 inc vat Flange (again, snigger!) - 032 121 121 K - £11.39 inc vat As far as I can see, this part is one of many unique to the Lupo GTI engine, however the thermostat, seal and flange are the same. James_VW
At the flange one of the bolts is rounded and wont make a tight seal. At the price of £120 i think I'll have a go at repairing it. Would epoxy do the job?
Rich
glue in a bit of stud, use a nut to lock it.

Tried this but the epoxy melts and the seal is ruined when to temp. Rich says they are lupo specific but with a bit of searching there are a few that look quite similar. Are you able to check? VW polo 9n - 032121111AP - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-COMPLETE-THERMOSTAT-HOUSING-032121111AP-110351-/181856645387?epid=1149426275&hash=item2a5780310b:g:Q0EAAOSwd0BV6Ghu That one looks very similar ^
lupogtiboy
As far as I can see, they are different where the top hose comes out to join to the top rad hose. 032 121 111 AT 032 121 111 AP Edited June 26, 2017 by lupogtiboy

So the one I've linked earlier, I cant see why it wouldn't work unless the diameters are different? For the 3x lower price it costs I may give it a go. Rich
i surmised that the difference is so the water pipe clears the shifter weight.
lupogtiboy
Mine is fitted with the top version as I had a new one fitted a few years back when I had my engine rebuilt. My GTI is a 2003 6 Speed

Reedo
i just bought a second hand one and nicked the 90 degree peice. there is enough people braking lupos that you would be able to get a second hand one.
