weslangdon
this is a link to an e-bay sale of a Lupo Auto, the seller has included an extraordinarily long list of invoices http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2001-VOLKSWAGEN-LUPO-1-4-16V-S-AUTO-AUTOMATIC-GREEN-P-X-TO-CLEAR-/321972573353?hash=item4af70f94a9:g:UpgAAOSwYIhWktIY
Skezza
Well, it depends which way you look at it. If it's had a **** load of work done to it, then that work won't need doing again. However on the flip side..... there is the question of other things going wrong and they've mentioned the EML is on. The car is very low mileage for its age which may have contributed to the problems. Quote 30-07-2015 INJECTOR REPLACE+ECU REPAIRED INVOICE FOR £342.60 Interesting that it has had to have a new ECU. The ECU's on Lupo's don't fail all that often, but they're located under the scuttle panel. I wonder if moisture or damp has been allowed to build up there. Injector failure could be caused by a lack of use (or perhaps the wrong fuel), although not too knowledgeable on petrol injectors. Quote 24-3-2015 NEW COIL PACKS, PLUGS AND LEADS+NEW FUEL INJECTOR INVOICE HERE FOR £287.90 Sounds about right. Cars old, they probably haven't ever been changed considering the low mileage. Again fuel injectors though? Bit of an odd one that. Quote 14-09-2014 NEW SET OF TYRES INVOICE HERE FOR £140.80 Nothing wrong with that. Quote 15-08-2014 FULL AIRCON SERVICE £147.80 Age and the fact it probably hasn't been used in years. Not unreasonable. Quote 06-06-2014 FULL SERVICE+TYRE AND TRACKING, INVOICE FOR £196.50 About right. Quote 23-12-2013 REPLACING FRONT PADS, REAR BRAKE PADS, REPAIRING LOCK BARREL, INVOICE FOR £174.09. The lock barrel is a bit of a red herring, because I'm not convinced that use alone kills them. I think weather has a big part of why the lock barrels on Lupo's fail and considering this one is still a 2001, it's entirely reasonable the lock barrel failed due to age alone. Quote 27-08-2013 REPLACING EHAUST VALVES, INLET VALVES, HEAD SET, TIMING BELT KIT, OIL FILTER, OIL, COOLANT, HEAD BOLTS, SPARK PLUGS, OIL PRESSURE SWITC, AIRFILTERINVOICE FOR £868.20.. That's quite a lot of stuff to be fair. Wonder if it had a head gasket failure? Perhaps lack of servicing (old lady owner) or lack of use caused some problems. Lot of stuff failed right there. Quote 02-07-2013 FULL SERVICE £142.99.. OK. Quote THIS CAR STARTS AND DRIVES, BUT ENGINE MANGMENT LIGHT IS ON AND IT DOSE HAVE MISSFIRE, IT SOUNDS LIKE ELECTRICAL FAULT, PERHAPS SENSOR??!! WE HAVE NOT INVESTIGATE IT ANY FURTHER AS TAKING IN P/X.. SO PLEASE BARE THIS IN MIND WHEN BIDDING?. This is the one that needs to be considered. Why is the EML on? Simples, take your OBD2 trusty device and find out.

weslangdon
might be worth running a data check on it, nice to have both air con and auto though
mattarosa
It's not got aircon... Zoom in on the recirculate air button, if it had ac then it would be split into two

weslangdon
clear on a data check but dealer says the misfire is constant after the engine warms up
Skezza
He'll be lucky to get a grand for it tbh
weslangdon
I don't think it'll go much past £700 with the misfire, the body colour's nice but the interior colours are nasty
