cj1
Tonight I began to replace the standard horn with a twin air horn. Fitted the cones in place of the original and twisted the bracket so they face forwards a bit more, the direction doesn't really matter that much but thought by facing them forwards it would keep them further out the way of the wheel etc... Pictures to follow when wired up. Also made a start on priming the cage, not ideal temperature for it, but I did some of the rear, the aim is to do a few small bits in the evenings.
cj1
Bit more priming done this week. Picked up a second hand fuel tank on Friday night, dropped it off at a friends who is going to fibreglass a guard for it, and finish it with a layer of Kevlar. Decided against switching the front brakes to the GTI ones I've got, going to wait, the standard brakes are more than fine on the front for now. Haven't really thought about either yet. Want to get the car mainly finished then I can worry about the small bits.

cj1
Lots of progress this weekend! Seats & belts are in. Fire extinguisher plumbed into the engine bay with both interior & exterior pull cords fitted. Brake lines now running all the way through, and all clipped neatly down the centre tunnel. Sandblasted one of the rear callipers earlier, going to do the other tomorrow & then the car can be put back on it's wheels and taken for the first time in a long time!

bogdan_wrc
nice work!! one little thing: Scroth says that the set belts should NOT be mounted like this, parallel, but in X to the rollbar: http://www.schroth.com/installation-instructions/en/05_restraint_installation.htm https://www.schrothracing.com/sdocs/2009_Competition_Instructions.pdf

Will have a look! Also forgot to mention, I designed a bracket to hold an interior light and got it printed, small details! Impressed with it, first time I've had anything 3D printed!
bogdan_wrc
after the rollbar, the stock interior light will be out? i just lost my alternator today so i have to delay rollbar mounting. also, back caliper got stuck, and managed to bring DS2500 from rear to smoke temperature :)))

Yes the windscreen bar passes right past where the normal light would be mounted, this one will sit on the main hoop of the roll cage. When are you looking to fit your cage then? cj1
Rear brake callipers sandblasted earlier, just painted them and looking to fit a bit later on.
cj1
Brakes now connected and bled , could do with doing again though over the weekend as there still seems to be a little air in the system. Ordered new discs for the rear which should be here soon. couldn't resist testing the interior light using 8x AA batteries, will be much brighter off the car battery! cj1
Brakes all bled, new rear discs on, it emerged from the garage! Took it for a quick drive! Left it idling on the drive, came back and noticed a funny smell, opened bonnet, smoke coming from the radiator fan, need a new one!
