Have to admit, of all the small cars mentioned in this thread (aside from the Loop) I would go for the C2... lovely little motors - the 1.6 diesel is mad!

How much for a cambelt?!?! Christ on a bike.... I pay less than that for my vec (and even less if I could be arsed to do it myself)...

Dont really know too much about the Lupo, but does it not have an EM system so you can plug into a diagnostic computer and read a fault code? Sounds to me like its running in limp mode. Sometimes it could be a sinister problem, other times it could be something as silly as the crank sensor/cam sensor was dirty when it was put back after the cambelt change? I doubt if it would be the fuel filter. Just trying to think of all the things that would cause limp mode....

got contact details, but not getting any joy - anyways, I'm interested to see what this guy is doing.. going to wait see how this unfolds.

In my case its a little more than just the description. But I'd rather not go into it here. My guess is the ads that were removed by the seller once sold/ran into issues were the ones with the same issue as me. But from what I can see there is one other.

Might just have to big that link up over on www.vvoc.com... there are plenty of vec recaro interiors that need a retrim.

That has to be one of the most lush Mk1 Golf's I have ever seen..... I can't wait to see it finished. It is so nice to see one in mint condition and then made even better... Keep up the good work!

lol.... I'm thinking its called having a heavy right foot, and a 130k 1999 1.8 engine.... lol the 2.0 turbo thats going in strangely enough will be far more economical.

I'm so jealous!! My vec gets 60l to fill of optimax, costs me £55 and I get a measly 290 to the tank..... 320 if I'm careful! I wish I had a lupo!

lol... and shows how long since I've been on here too! My vec was since nearly written off, but is now sporting a respray done by a wicked bodyshop in Southend.... and then there's the Turbo lump getting ever closer to getting itself in the engine bay I WILL be getting a VAG car soon though, got my eye on a GT TDI mk4 Golf and I think I know where to come when I upgrade the interior

Gutted for your sister, but she should have trusted what you were saying. Its a shame that she didn't think that someone that has an interest in cars might have a little common sense in what you were talking about. Bad enough trying to buy a car from a genuine seller from ebay - had a friend who won an auction without seeing the car, and the pictures were poor quality enough to hide a matte paint job. lol.

Hey there from one newb to another Lovely looking motor you got there... I always liked the old skool.

I quite like it, but I think that its very similar to the Astra too.... Would consider accepting it if someone were to offer it for free
