Why do need to turn the light out first? Can't you fit the resistor and then get it turned off with VAGcom later. I ask because I need to do this too.

Well I think I have sourced a new slip ring so hopefully I will have the option of both. Just waiting on all the parts now.

Yeah that's what I thought too but I've been informed that the slip ring is still required and the resistor plugs into the plug that connects directly to the air bag. Can anyone confirm this either way? I will be using a standard mono boss and genuine VAG resistor.

Whilst removing the steering wheel to get to the faulty/smoking indicator stalk I damaged the slip ring / airbag connection. Basically to cut a long story short I need a whole new unit. VW want £230! Its for an 02 Gti if that makes a difference. Can they be bought cheaper elsewhere? Anyone breaking a Gti? Is there anything I need to do when re-fitting the new one? I will be fitting a MOMO Team at the same time. Thanks in advance.

When removing the air bag do you remove the hornpush / centre first or is it all part of the same thing? I've read the how to but I wasn't sure. Any help apprciated as I need to replace my indicator stalk. it's clicking and smoking. Thanks

My dad got a set of those on his Mk4, I think they suit the car so well. Nice and subtle.

It covers most of it when the windows are closed but when they POP-out you can see the black polyurethane and it looks a bit messy. I've got the windows in and fitted, but would like to tidy this up at some point. I worried about using any old sealant remover as it might affect the paint. Thanks for the help.

I'm fitting my popout today, I've removed the windows with no problems but I'm left with a black silicon which will not come off. I don't want to knife my paint anymore than I have done so how the f do I get it off?? Thanks in advance.
