  1. Ive been with them the past few years and they are quite good when it comes to providing low quotes, as Picola says they dont always give you the cheapest quote tho. I always say that Performance Direct have provided a cheaper quote and they always do their best to beat it so give that a try also. I manages to get them to protect my no claims discount for free also (should have been £40 extra)
  2. Isnt it on tomorrow night/ sunday morning not tonight???
  3. Yeh defo get the alternator checked before getting a new battery put in as chances are that'll be the problem
  4. When the brake light switch fails, the EPC light comes on (intermitently sometimes) and the car goes into a limp mode and the car will lose power etc. When it happened on mine I found myself having to change down a gear as the car kept spluttering and juddering. Once the brake light switch was replaced everything went back to normal.
  5. Have a check if your brake lights are still working, sounds to me like the brake light switch may be broke which puts it into limp mode which has similar effects to what your describing
  6. Turns out its one of the rear brake pistons has ceased which was causing the grinding noise as the brake was pretty much permenantly on! New caliper being fitted today as it just could not be freed, how much do they normally costs??
  7. Your coming to Manchester not Merseyside Nah as said Rammy/ Haslingden aint bad at all, some good roads round that way as well if you fancy having a B road blast!!
  8. Surely that would make the noise all the time I would have thought?? Hard to tell but to be honest it sounds like something is grinding whilst rotating rather than just a quick grind as I turn if that makes sense??? Bit of both as its whilst the car is moving but only happens when I turn the wheel, so its defintely a noise you'd associate with something rotating, and it definitely sounds like metal on metal
  9. Started to hear a grinding noise last night which I originally thought was my brakes, however I had a look at the pads and they seem to have a fair bit left. Also its only happening occaisionally and only when turning left. Anyone got any ideas what it might be before I book it into the garage to get looked at?? Cheers
  10. Use Exlax chocolate to coat them with, even more of a surprise if they do actually eat them
  11. I really like them, something different and rather old skool looking!
  12. Mine also did what yours has done and the EPC light went off again and brake lights came back but this only lasted for a few more weeks before I had to replace the switch anyways I fixed mine myself the part only cost a few quid from what I remember (£5 tops I recon) then used this guide http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1158315 as they can be quite tricky to install and a prone to breaking if you fit them incorrectly ( I know the guide is for a golf but the part is the same and fitment is the same too)
  13. Cheers guys thats a great help i'll bare all those in mind, any other suggestions welcome too!

  18. That's the site I used, very good at running you through the appropriate steps including calculating the interest on the charges.
  19. Initially it wasn't my fault I went past my over draft limit it was a mistake with one of my direct debits coming out earlier than I had requested.....then because of the bank charges each month I was going past my monthly budget.......I got charged £60 8 times in one year now I dont see how they can justify that ! I used to be rubbish with money so yeh I admit some of the charges were my fault, but to charge anywhere from £12-60 just isnt justified. "£980? Remind me not to lend you a tenner. " what you mean by that?
  20. Have a look on this site, seems to have been studies on it in the past http://www.greatrix.co.uk/Pub3.htm just after section 13 there's info suggesting that injuries occur above 6mph. The person you rear ended may have done some research themselves as other sites say 5mph and above So if you can find out from VAGCom at what speed the impact was and it is below 5mph then you may very well be right there. On the other hand if you were busy rear ending somebodys car I'm not sure whether you would have had time to look at your speedo to see how fast you were going at time of impact to say it was only 3mph (or maybe thats why you crashed coz you were looking at your speedo )
  21. I got back £980 for charges over a 3 year period about 4 months ago..........basically the charges imposed by the bank were the reason I went past my overdraft limit and got charged again the following month and so on and so on as their charges kept forcing me past my overdraft limit each month. At the end of the day the banks are only out to make profit and what easier way than imposing stupidly high charges on peoples accounts. They try alsorts of tricks to try and get money out of you. For example I knew that yesterday a direct debit was due out of one of my accounts, which didnt have enough money in the account to cover it. So I went into the bank and put enough money in that account to cover the deficit.......... a few hours later I got a call from the bank saying that even though I'd put the cash in that day the payment still couldnt be made as I hadnt told the teller that it was to pay that specific bill Bloody jokers! They changed their mind and paid the bill after I told them I was closing my account as a result and will reconsider whether I will be getting my mortgage from them!
  22. Have a look on the Tesco website they have some reasonably priced laptops
  23. People like that should be sterilised.........what a waste of taxpayers money I say, make them get a f@cking job!!!
