  1. 4.5k, thats mental lol. Do you have points or previous accidents? Try the online price comparison websites or is that who's been quoting the 4.5k?
  2. lol The guy in that rs4? Did he come past you?
  3. Is the Lupo 1.4 petrol gearbox the same gearbox they put in the Golf mk4 1.4?
  4. My tdi lupo is on almost 235k and will be on 250k or over by the end of the year and will hit (fingers crossed) 300k by this time next year, maybe even a little more. I'll get it to 500k miles in the next 3 to 4 years no probs. I have a slight turbo/boost issue that i'm sorting at the moment (think I've fixed it now) but if i look through its history (full VW until 180k) its not ever had a clutch, turbo or any gearbox issues. It drives spot on. I paid £700 for mine with 180k on the clock with a full history. Some might say i paid a little too much but like what Jon has said as long as it's looked after you should be ok. The full documented main dealer history did it for me, every bit of work is on it. Your's with 137k is still a baby
  5. You gotta love a drag strip I bet that gti is sweet to drive! Many many moons ago i took my R32 to Santa pod, my fastest time of the day was 14 seconds and i think it was 98mph?? One poor chap blew the clutch on his new seat Ibiza just off the start line, i remember the AA refused to come onto the site so he was towed and pushed out onto the main road lol.
  6. I've finally found a bit more time to look into my extremely poor mpg issues on the tdi (about 40mpg) and the low power its making. For £10 of fuel i'm getting about 80/85 miles of motorway driving. Its pretty bad. Does anyone know how easy it should be to move the actuator arm for the turbo when the engine is off? The spring on mine seems extremely stiff and needs a lot of force to actually move the arm. It does move but it's really tough. I've done a compression test on the pipework and cant find any leaks. I've tried the compression tester on the actuator, i've pumped it up to pressure and the actuator arm/rod doesn't move at all. It also doesn't move when all connected up with the engine revving. Would this point to a faulty actuator, should the arm move freely without the need for lots of force? I did the Mr Muscle turbo clean last night and a diesel purge and the sh*t that came out the back was unreal, 230k's worth of crap, it does run smoother and quieter now but it's still not making the power it should so i'm thinking the actuator is faulty?
  7. Get it scanned and it will more than likely show up the oil light fault, it will give any prospective buyers piece of mind it's nothing serious?
  8. Whoever bought that got a good deal!
  9. Both my doors bang like guns being fired when i open them. It's 2 or 3 loud bangs each side?
  10. You better check but i didn't have any issues. I think if they can still get it on their rollers and ramp to get under it it's ok. But check with your MOT garage. I had no issues when mine was slammed.
  11. I'm not sure how high mine was but it was lowered to the floor and it passed MOT's. Not sure if there is a 'too low' height though?
  12. I would have thought this would of been snapped up at that price! Thats really cheap considering how cheap they are to run.

    1.4TDi Decat

I know this is an old post but i'm just wondering how you got on with the decat? Any drop in mpg at all? I'm going to get one made up for mine but not had the time to do it yet? Also what's it like when it comes to the MOT time? I have to swap out my decat to my standard cats on my Golf for the MOT or it fails so so bad.
  14. Their rolling road was notorious for reading wrong figures but their re maps were always ok. They also used to do some good offers on re maps too. I wouldn't have a problem with putting one of their re maps on my tdi, they are a good company but their rolling road was very bad for figures.
  15. Are you talking about Awesome Gti? Get your car mapped by them but don't pay any attention to their rolling road figures. Go on a different rolling road. It wouldn't surprise me that if you get your's mapped by them and then rolling roaded the figure would be something like 140bhp. We did an R32 rolling road shoot out day and the figures we were all getting back were mental, laughable almost. I've heard so many people say don't go by their RR figures. It might have all changed there now?
  16. Having an extra gear to select when driving on the motorway is always a nice thing to have. If it was me i would be buying a 6 speed one, just for that reason, it has 6 gears you can use. Get your's and your mates on a rolling road and see who's is making the most power. It might not all be down to the gears if he is noticeably quicker than you?
  17. Do the 1.0 Lupo's run coil packs? My golf eats a couple of these every few years. The generate a nice misfire if one if on its way out. Cheap to replace though. Like what's been said, if you get it scanned it will show up any faults.
  18. I will take the turbo off this weekend and look at all the connecting pipes too. Maybe something has got blocked or is getting blocked? I'll have a look and getting a new N75 valve but i'll see if i can get the car scanned first. Recon turbo's are pretty cheap to buy so it's not the end of the world if it is shagged. I just need to know, the lack of power and the drop in mpg is doing my head in lol I will get the cat cut out, i can't see it doing much anyway its a tiny thing. I'll get some pictures along the way too.
  19. Yeah i thought it was expensive when i saw the advert. I had to buy a new one because one of mine broke, i thought it was for 2 at first but its £20 for 1 :/. I just bought the cheap metal/chrome looking ones. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-LUPO-AROSA-MANUAL-WINDOW-WINDER-HANDLE-IN-BLACK-1998-2004-/112007741879?hash=item1a142e81b7:g:9BcAAOSwNphWZWY6
  20. My Lupo Tdi is on 230k and on the original gearbox. It's smooth in all gears, it doesn't crunch or make odd noises, it drives perfect tbh. Going by what some of you have said i think i've got lucky with mine?
  21. I don't think any car I've owned has been spot on with the clock speed. My Lupo reads a fair bit out. The dash cam will say 45mph and the speedo will read as 50mph. The faster i go the further out it reads. 85mph on the speedo is around 78mph on the gps.
