  1. Just thought I'd resurrect this thread instead of hijacking the other remap thread LOL. Got my lead today: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262011928858 It is seems good quality, fat leads, I might open it and have a peek at the soldering in the box at some point. I'm on Windows 7 x64. Software needs extracting and installing and manually find the driver in MPPS folder. Run the desktop link as administrator otherwise you go round in circles and nothing happens. I took 2 dumps of my ecu and file compare shows they are identical. They are very small though at 204Kb, i was expecting a couple of megabytes for the time it took (1:45)... VAGEDCsuite doesnt open them saying checksum error. Should i have done a full K line dump instead of data only (default)? My map isnt standard as it has been remapped in the past but any ideas on opening the files helpful. Cheers
  2. I dont know but here's another manual Here's the Fabia tdi manual: http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/fabia-mk1/power_unit/1.4/51;_55;_59_kw_tdi_pd_engine/engine_cylinder_head_valve_gear/camshaft/removing_and_installing_camshaft/removing/ Polo manual: http://workshop-manuals.com/volkswagen/polo-mk3/power_unit/3-cylinder_diesel_engine/engine_cylinder_head_valve_gear/valve_gear/removing_and_installing_camshaft/ Looks like the back of the cambelt cover would prevent you doing it that way so means the pulley and hub has to come off.
  3. The cheapest nastiest one i could see like the one he used in the vid LOL http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262011928858 I wanted flashing lights, the cheaper leads some said not for diesels, so double check. Was going to update here when it arrived, but it's cheap enough for a punt, but defo do the precautions he did in the vid and watch the one where he nearly bricked it too. MPPS has recovery if your flash fails, gellato doesnt i think.
  4. Just bought an mpps lead. Mine's 105 bhp (or was several years ago when it was mapped) That's excellent if I can fiddle with it some more for free (unless i bork it obviously LOL)
  5. Good. I'll be buying the lead and having a go. Now which lead do i get? LOL Vagsuite here: http://socalsaab.com/suites/VAGEDCSuite.msi(assuming it's what he meant)
  6. I know next to nothing about mapping apart from what i've read now and again over the last few weeks...But I would like to have a go at this sort of thing though. Once you have said map is there a cheap easy way to modify the map before uploading? i.e can you tweak the map cheaply or free? All the indications were you have to spend lots of money on the software etc and it is very difficult to use, or is that just the mappers protecting their bottom line? I want to go the gt1749v route (I has one) you see and stumping up £400 just wont be done on a car worth under £1k. If i have to spend money I'd rather buy tools or kit to do the job myself. Sorry for the thread hijack....
  7. You need to get some opinions with someone actually listening to it. Take it to a couple of independent VW garages or similar and see what they say about it.
  8. It's probably worth dropping the oil and changing the oil filter as it could just be the wrong oil in there.
  9. Check the wiring to the oil pressure switch, but it would be flashing going over bumps if that was the problem me thinks. What oil is in it do you know? The oil on the dip stick looks and feels clean?
  10. Assuming the noise is the same noise on the clutch pedal, you are at the mercy of the gearbox rebuild there. Have you driven or been in other lupos to know how much yours is different? I assume it was significant for you to go to the trouble of changing release bearing and clutch to start with. Now it's the same noise just quieter right?
  11. How long does the light stay on for when starting from cold? Assuming you arent using oil (and the light coming on from low oil level in the bends) like Rich said, then worn oil pump, clogged oil pickup. Check your oil level, if it's low put thicker oil in it.
  12. Not surprised, if you'd been near me I'd have bought it.
  13. you didnt search very hard then did you to be fair there isnt much lupo stuff out there, i end up using polo mk3 or skoda fabia manuals. http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/fabia-mk1/power_unit/1.4/51;_55;_59_kw_tdi_pd_engine/engine_cooling/cooling_system/removing_and_installing_coolant_regulator/ Reasonably sure lupo will be similar.
  14. I'd do one thing at a time and see if there's anything noticeably different.
  15. http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/Products.aspx?ID=MQAzADEAOQA3ADYAMgA2ADQAdwBYAEwAbABJACcAWABcAE4AIwAhAFgANwA%3D Computer says yes. **** it, I'll buy some. Stupid ebay compatibility lists cant be trusted....
  16. H'mm, going round in circles here trying to find shoes for it. They are 200 x 40mm and was looking at some Mintex MFR373 for £17 delivered but everywhere seems to say they dont fit my tdi. Even the Mintex search says I have discs on the back FFS! http://195.59.3.154/mintexonline/WebForms/frmMainMenu.aspx Are all the 200mm shoes the same mechanically? If so, i'll just buy the MFR373.

    Newbie Help

It depends... tyres, offset, how low the car is, arch work. This is a useful site: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=185&aspect=55&diameter=14&wheelwidth=6&offset=40&width2=185&aspect2=50&diameter2=15&wheelwidth2=6.5&offset2=40#content Adjust the offset, tyres etc to your intended and current wheels and it tells you the difference.

  19. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/17566/P1158 as your other faults cleared including your auto box thumping issue then it's pretty safe to say the wiring and new sensor are working, that leaves the hoses, which you have previously patched up. Any problems with wiring is usually near the sensor as that is exposed to damp, heat and flex (unless the loom has obviously been tampered with), or the connector itself.
  20. if your other codes went and your transmission thumping stopped when you changed the MAP sensor, why dont you think it's working? If you want confirmation, put the old one back in and see what happens. You probably have a leak somewhere.
  21. You had other codes before have they now gone?
  22. The shafts bottoming out crossed my mind, but as people seem to slam lupos and not report this, plus any car should allow for full suspension swing without bottoming the shafts anyway I didnt suggest it. If you have worn bushes in your suspension or saggy engine gearbox mounts you might see this happening, which would be why full lock makes it happen as the outside wheel is forced in a turn if the suspension is worn or the engine / gearbox is forced out if the mounts are weak. If there's enough movement then your shafts will run out of end travel and bottom out.
  23. What codes do you now have? You checked the wiring to the sensor? Some seem to get this problem and not resolve it, but it seems pretty much any leak in the induction side will throw it off.
