  1. Yeah, I think thats it too, I would be a bit hard on the brakes especially as the missus drives her golf and it stops on a sixpence, its mad, literally touch the pedal and you are eating windscreen, I want brakes like that! I'm hoping its not the hub and its just the brake discs, want an excuse to get drilled and grooved as well, I know they will eat the pads but if it saves 90 quid on new discs every few months then its money well spent
  2. My car has just gone in today for a load of work doing to it, this is the list so far 1. Wipers coming on intermittently on their own 2. Centre console light not working 3. Check Light on in dash 4. Main beam indicator on all the time even when headlights are definitely dipped 5. Brakes are juddering, I think a warped disc again, going to see about what they do performance disc/pad wise 6. Tires are ****ed, I mean anything over 40MPH in the wet and I pick what I want to drive into in an emergency stop 7. Door Check straps 8. All the wipers need replaced 9. Boot lock needs lubed 10. Central locking solenoids (aftermarket meta-systems alarm with RCL (anyone with access to spares for this please contact me!) 11. Full service for MOT equivalent (NCT here in Ireland) 12. Brakes Taking ages to come on, pedal is nearly in the floor 13. Maybe the cam belt, I don't know if they changed it at the 40K service or not and have been shitting bricks since I joined this forum! Its up at 60K now And whatever else they find over the next few days, have to say they are brilliant, they do rally prep and racing and the car comes back SOOOO tight and spot on its like a different car. PM me for their number and location
  3. I've got 15s with 195 50 tires on and they rub on full lock but only in reverse!
  4. I have a sony CDX GT200 with the 3.5 mm jack in the front and IIRC it was under a ton.

    Contracting

I did a bit of work as a consultant and the tax rules depend on how you work, if you work over a certain amount for a company they have to treat you like an employee and I think they pay you using PAYE. Consultancy is a good gig if you have the skills, you can pick up 600 quid a day for active directory stuff if you are decent at it.
  6. No, A different one again! http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b250/rea...erhelpphoto.jpg Like that except in black and 1.4 MPI on it (and a veedub badge) I like the GTI one as well below your post. feck.
  7. What is the difference between the two types of engine cover? And the other style which I don't have a picture of, it covers everything up and the HT leads go across the top in 4 lines rather that the "weave" in the above I much prefer the one in the above picture, and if someone had a part number and approx price thats even better!
  8. Now that I would *pay* money to see, youTube anyone?
  9. Oh Noes now I have to find 20K for my 170PS Golf GT. nuts. Had my eye on a Tiguan when it was a concept car, but now that its out and about its a bit toned down. Which is disappointing but to be expected really.
  10. http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=14493 That post in the How-To/information archive should have all the info that you need on ET, offsets and all that other good stuff. D
  11. I was happy enough as it did exactly what i needed, an iPod (must be iPod not some other music player) and a phone! yay for only having one device! i love mah iphone
  12. This is what it is being broadcast as, it was prescription sleeping pills and he had been heard to say that two of them only let him sleep for an hour. Its very sad when things like this happen, not just to famous people, but to everyday people. The amount of accidental overdoses on sedatives/barbiturates is quite high apparently, also the addiction rate is very high too.
  13. I think so, I'm not a VAGCOM expert by any stretch of the imagination, but it looks like you had a misfire on cylinder 3, possibly caused by a lean or rich burn which was caused by the dodgy lambda sensor. I think it has multiple fault lines as its an entire component that has failed, or possibly the connection, I think mine had 3 faults all related to the same but I didn't get any misfiring etc. YMMV
  14. I would say your lambda sensor is knackered, I had the same problem but got it scanned at a stealers (45 notes it cost me!) Got my mechanics to supply and fit for 90, didnt make any difference to the running of the car but its reassuring to know that I wasn't killing the cat (which got replaced about 6 mths later when my exhaust shat itself to pieces.) Its a shame I didnt think to go for a manifold back stainless jobbie as it would probably have been a similar price, nearly 400 quid it cost to replace, managed to get it for 275 though by shopping around.
  15. I love all my apple kit, but I just don't get the point of the air. Its really restricted in what it can do, its not got a replaceable battery, its got 1 USB port and if you want to connect to a wired network, which is all that I allow in the office, then, crap you are just out of luck when you want to plug in your usb key. I have a couple of macbooks at home and wouldn't part with them (except for an upgrade to the same "style" of machine) The 13.3" screen is just the right size and resolution for me and the overall size of the laptop is great. My work is getting me a macbook pro as I do oncall and am going to use it as a desktop replacement, but I am seriously thinking about asking them to get a macbook instead and give me the extra cash!
  16. Rolled one of these! put it onto its roof and busted every single panel on it. managed to rip one of the front wheels off and had to kick out the glass in the back passenger side to get out! What happened was I missed a bend in the road and put full lock and the brakes on all at once and it just slid, clipped a telegraph pole and rolled into a field... A fence post stopped it from flipping back onto its wheels but the worst injury I got was a scratch on my wee finger getting out past the brambles.
  17. Bunch of robbing lovely persons! Then you have merkins complaining about paying over a dollar a GALLON, a fukcing GALLON Wouldn't live there though, in the same job over there I would be about 100K a year better off (I don't earn as much as you are thinking!) but they all just annoy me and I would miss home too much, I don't think my dogs would like it out there either. Will be trying for the south of France though!
  18. I would drive about a 160 mile round trip 2/3 times a week and the drivers that I see are shocking. Here is my most wanted for being a cock list: Van Drivers, specifially anything transit sized or bigger but smaller than an LGV X5/Cayenne (these get their own section as they are supercunts) 4x4 drivers People that make a mistake like cutting you up or forcing you over the road and then give you abuse! Tractors that don't pull into the hard shoulder when there is a 3 mile tailback behind them For my birthday and Christmas 2008 (I swear I'll be good.....) I want surface-to-surface missiles and twin 50 calibre machine guns..... I'd make the roads a safer place!
  19. multitouch trackpad as on the iPhone/touch sweet...
  20. So where did you get this kind of information! I'd love to see a map of all the fixed camera locations
  21. I think thats the one that spanks a porsche!
  22. Thats exactly what I didn't want but expected to hear! Ah well, back to the drawing board...
  23. Righty, interesting conundrum here, I am really pissed at paying extortionate prices for petrol and cos of the high mileage I would do, (150 mile round trip 2-3 times a week) I love my wee blue loop to bits but want a diesel instead, whats the score on swapping engines from a TDi into a 1.4 (75 horsies) Do the fuel lines need changing? are the engine mounts the same? I would be swapping the whole lot, engine and ecu/clocks so I don't expect the engine wiring to be a problem but what about the rest of the car, airbags etc.? whats the options on the diesels? Is there anything bigger than the 1.7 that can go in easily? The next question is, has this ever been done before? I think I would probably need some help with it, my garage will be doing it but if I had a list of stuff that needs doing I would say that it would be a lot easier As for a reason, DERV is not a dirty word, I have a bit of a chemistry background so once I have the swap done or a new (used) car bought, I would be starting to manufacture my own biodiesel from WVO, bit more environmentally (and pocket) friendly.

    WTF

Its still on the bay, but its ugly as sin, I mean really really ugly. I wouldn't be seen dead riding it! Again, only one question, WHY, WHY would anyone do this? Its completely retarded.
